Bronze base cards are the lowest rated players in the game. Silver are slightly stronger players, though still not playable at a competitive level. Meanwhile, the gold players, particularly the gold rare ones, are the most palatable for team building. Each card rank is also split into "rare" and "common" ranks.

In Ultimate Team, the only way to play offline and gain rewards is by playing Squad Battles. Different teams used by other players are randomly selected and you play against the AI either on your own or with a friend. You can play up to forty-two squad battles a week for rewards.

However, you may not choose the referee; he or she is assigned by the game. All of these customizable aspects are in the form of cards that you can receive through packs and rewards.

Icons in Ultimate Team have a distinct card design and come in one of three forms: Base, Medium, and Prime. 'Prime Moments' icons have also been added to the game to create a fourth, more powerful version of an icon. Icons are very difficult to find in packs, and are generally some of the strongest cards in the game. Famous icons include Pele, Ronaldo, Maradona, and Eusebio.

Each player is given a set of attributes that help determine their overall skill. When team-building, look for defenders with excellent defending attributes and strikers with great pace and shooting attributes. The highest possible value that any player can have in a single attribute is 99. Near the end of the game cycle, most of the strongest cards tend to have 99s in many key attributes.

Answer: Weak foot and skill moves

A player with a 1-star weak foot is essentially useless with their weak foot, while a player with a 5-star weak foot can shoot and pass effectively with both feet equally. Players with 5-star skill moves can perform tricks that no one else can. The more "skill move" stars a player has, the more effective they are at performing tricks with the ball. Players with both a 5-star weak foot and 5-star skill moves are considered rare and very powerful, even if they don't have the best attributes.

Answer: Team of the Year

The 'team of the year', abbreviated TOTY, are upgraded versions of players that have had the best previous calendar year. These cards are rare, powerful, and very expensive on the market. They are always upgraded versions of existing gold cards. These cards cannot be used in the same squad as their 'base version' or with any of their other versions.

Answer: Squad Building Challenges

Squad Building Challenges, or SBCs for short, allow the player to dump most of their unused cards into a squad that can be submitted for rewards. Some squad building challenges are multi-tiered; a player must submit several squads in order to reach the highest rewards.

These rewards can vary from a bronze pack to the 'prime moments' version of some of the strongest icons in the game, depending on the challenge.

Answer: Weekend League

The FUT Champions (FIFA Ultimate Team Champions) Weekend League is difficult to qualify for, but even more difficult to compete in. Each player who qualifies for this elite competition can play up to twenty games. The results in those games determines the rewards that the players will receive after the competition is over.
