Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
"Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" was first released in 2007 and accommodated the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms. There are a total of seventy-three songs on the soundtrack for the game, which have been broken down to a main set of forty-eight songs and twenty-five bonus tracks. Sadly, none of the songs in the bonus section are pre-1980.
The initial forty-eight songs are split as follows: thirty-nine single player songs, three "Boss Battle" songs and six "Co-op Career" exclusive songs. The later mode, "Co-op Career", is a new addition to this version of the game, which allows you to play off against other characters built into the game as well as players outside of it. In addition, legends Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave) and Slash from Guns N' Roses can be used as playable characters or battle opponents.
The songs are set up in eight tiers, according to their level of difficulty. The career difficulty that you choose will determine whether you have to complete all of the songs on a level or just some of them before you can access the next level. And, before I forget, you also have to play an encore at each level. Then, there are three "Boss Battles" built into the career solo mode and the first two of these are against the aforementioned Tom Morello and Slash.
Bonus songs have been a feature of "Guitar Hero" in previous versions, however, they were limited to being from bands from the Boston area. In this version they have broadened the field to include bands from across the USA and also some from Europe. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions provide you with the opportunity to download songs. Finally, a compact disc was also made available as part of the game's promotion. Sadly, the creators were not feeling that groovy and they failed to include any songs that were pre-1980 on that disc.
The answers are listed above, however, they do not reveal who recorded them nor the year that they were released, so, here they are:
"Paint it Black" (1966) - The Rolling Stones
"Sunshine of Your Love" (1968) - Cream
"The Seeker" (1970) - The Who
"Paranoid" (1970) - Black Sabbath
"Mississippi Queen" (1970) - Mountain
"Black Magic Woman" (1970) - Santana
"School's Out" (1972) - Alice Cooper
"Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll" (1972) - Blue Oyster Cult
"La Grange" (1973) - ZZ Top
"Same Old Song and Dance" (1974) - Aerosmith
"Slow Ride" (1975) - Foghat
"Rock and Roll All Nite" (1975) - KISS
"Barracuda" (1977) - Heart
The incorrect answers were:
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" (1980) - Pat Benetar
"Rock You Like a Hurricane" (1984) - Scorpions
"Welcome to the Jungle" (1987) - Guns N' Roses
"Talk Dirty to Me (1987) - Poison
"Suck My Kiss" (1991) - Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Even Flow" (1991) - Pearl Jam
"Sabotage" (1994) - Beastie Boys
