Fairborn is just outside of Dayton, and Wright State's name is in honor of the Wright Brothers. WSU's athletic teams are the Raiders and are members of the Horizon League.

Located in Boone, North Carolina, Appalachian State gained national attention in 2007 when the Mountaineers defeated Michigan in the Big House, 34-32. Both ECSU and FSU are "historically black colleges" located in Elizabeth City and Fayetteville.

Their mascot is the Bulldogs. Frostburg State began as a normal school in 1898 and its mascot is the Bobcats.
