Irreconcilable differences
When Tom Cruise filed a petition to have his ten year, two month marriage to actress Nicole Kidman absolved, on February 7, 2001 in a Los Angeles Superior Court, Nicole was shocked and dismayed to learn that he was citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorce. In response to Cruise's petition, Nicole filed a response, wherein she stated that she was pregnant with Cruise's child when she learned of the impending divorce, and wanted to attend marriage counseling with Cruise but that he refused. The talented actress was very upset that her marriage was being scrutinized by the press and that her husband did not want to live with her. In her petition, she also filed for custody of the couple's two children: Isabella and Connor.
