From Quiz Short and Sweet
Answer:
Family Ties (1982-1989)
Michael J. Fox starred as the son, Alex P. Keaton, in "Family Ties". Co-stars included Michael Gross (the father, Steven), Justine Bateman (the older daughter, Mallory), Meredith Baxter (the mother, Elyse) and Tina Yothers (the younger daughter, Jennifer) as the Keaton family. The parents were past hippies and were passionate political activists, with a liberal Democratic view, who found themselves raising a family of three children. These three children all had very different views, personalities and interests. The popular television sitcom ran from 1982 to 1989. Alex P. Keaton was a clear Republican. He was a smart and witty high school student who had a huge interest in both wealth and economics. Eventually Alex P. Keaton went to college to study liberal psychology which led to a job on Wall Street.
Michael J. Fox went on to numerous projects such as his role as Mike Flaherty in "Spin City" (1996) and as the character of Marty McFly in "Back to the Future" (1985), "Back to the Future Part II" (1989) and "Back to the Future Part III" (1990). He later was afflicted with Parkinson's disease, which resulted in his choice to leave the cast of "Spin City". Michael's quote about Parkinson's disease is: "People always ask me if I say to myself 'Why Me?' and I tell them, 'Why not me?'"
