Located in the middle of the campus and standing since 1960, the Chester Fritz Library is the main building for research undertaken at the University of North Dakota. The fourth floor is notable for the Special Collections exhibit it displays, consisting of historic documents regarding the university's history, and significant people who helped it to flourish, such as Chester Fritz.
The library was renovated in 2021, and is named after Fritz (1892 - 1983), one of the most generous donors to the university and one of its alumni. The university also features the Chester Fritz Auditorium, which hosts concerts, musicals, etc. In 1950, Fritz gave the university $10,000 and was there for the dedication ceremony of the library named after him, in 1961.
Established around 1883, the University of North Dakota is situated in the city of Grand Forks. The medical school in this university, the UND School of Medicine & Health (established in 1905) is the only medical school to exist in North Dakota.
The University of North Dakota also features the state's only law school, University of North Dakota School of Law (established in 1899).
