Sean Covey Trivia Questions

1. What is Habit three called?

From Quiz
"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 3

Answer: Put First Things First

"Putting First Things First" means to do the most important things first (like homework) and doing the less important things afterwards (like playing video games). "Sharpen the Saw" is the last habit and "Think Win-Win" is the next habit. "Seek First to Talk, then Pretend to Listen" is a "Habit of Highly Defective Teens": meaning it's a habit that does worse for you. You'll see these in Covey's book on page 7.

2. What does "Begin with the end in mind" mean?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 2

Answer: Control your own destiny or someone else will

Beginning with the end in mind means thinking beyond the now and thinking about your future. Not only will it help you turn your dreams into realities and take charge of your life, but it can also be quite exciting to wonder how you'll be in the future (just try it).

3. Habit 1: 'Be Proactive' means what?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: Take responsibility for your own life

Being proactive means to take responsibility for your life and how you act towards certain predicaments. It's the key to starting the 'Private Victory'. If something that happens to you makes you mad, just let go of the past.

4. In the Third Habit Chapter there's a feature called the Time Quadrants. Each corner represents four people: which one would you most likely want to be?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 3

Answer: the prioritizer

The prioritizer does things that are important but not urgent. That means he/she does the most important things as soon as the person has the chance! They have time for everything else too! The procrastinator waits 'til the last minute, because they crave urgency (they do things that are urgent and important). The yes-man just does anything that other people ask him to do. They are unimportant to him, but they're still urgent. The slacker is the worst of all! He just does stuff for no reason; the things that are not important or urgent.

5. What's the opposite of being proactive?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: Being reactive

Being reactive means you blame everything and everyone else for your problems. You just let the anger out and never take responsibility for your actions.

6. People who are proactive are like what?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: A bottle of water

No matter how much someone "shakes you up", you don't go under pressure and explode. A reactive person is like a bottle of soda.

7. What do you possibly need to write in order to begin with the end in mind?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 2

Answer: a mission statement

A mission statement is a motto that states what your life is about. It's your life's blueprint. They can be long or short, poems or songs, a quote or a list of quotes, a picture, photograph, or collage, many words or a single word, there is no single right way to do it!

8. Sean gave an example of himself jumping into the courage zone once; what was he scared of?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 3

Answer: singing in public

Sean was short a few credits in his senior year of college so he chose "Private Voice Instructions" to fill the hours. But by the end of the semester, he was required to sing at least one time in front of the other vocal students! (big gulp!) He was also nervous about hitting the high note in a song called 'On the Street Where You Live'. Even though they looked at him crazy he was proud of himself for "going three million light years away from his comfort zone."

9. What 'journey' was in the book to help you with this habit?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 2

Answer: The Great Discovery

The Great Discovery is a fun activity made to help you get in touch with your deeper self. When you finish the ten questions, you'll most likely have a better idea of what inspires you, what you love doing, and where you want to take your life.

10. What victory is proactivity in?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: The Private Victory

The private victory comes before the public and renewal victories, because you must 'conquer' yourself before you 'conquer' others. The setup is pretty much the introduction of the book.

11. The book mentioned a man who had eleven failures/setbacks before reaching a goal. Who was he?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 3

Answer: Abraham Lincoln

The failures and setbacks were: 1. failing business at age 22 2. was defeated for state legislature at age 23 3. failed in business at 25 4. coped with the death of his sweetheart at age 26 5. suffered a nervous breakdown at age 27 6. was defeated for speaker at age 29 7. was defeated for congressional nomination at age 34 8. lost renomination for Congress at age 39 (after being elected to Congress at age 37) 9. was defeated for the Senate at age 46 10. was defeated for vice presidency of the United States at age 47 11. was defeated for the Senate at age 49 Lincoln became president at age 51. He rose each time he fell and eventually reached his goal, winning the respect of all nations and peoples.

12. There are how many keys to goal setting?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 2

Answer: 5

The keys to goal setting are count the cost (figure out the benefits and costs of trying to reach this goal), write it in pen (a goal not written is only a wish), just do it! (don't say you'll try to do it, just do it and don't have a remorse), use momentous moments (use moments with momentum that can help you set goals like your marriage or a death in the family), and rope up (get others to help you reach this goal).

13. What is the phrase for the overall proactivity part of the book?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: "I am the force"

"I am the force" means I am the one who controls my actions. Although "It's me time" makes some sense, because being proactive means controlling yourself, the phrase is used for the renewal chapter.

14. Which was said in the chapter?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 2

Answer: carpe diem

Carpe diem means 'seize the day'. Make your life extraordinary!

15. Being proactive can help you do what?

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"- Habit 1

Answer: Be a more pleasurable person.

If you are proactive, your enemies, ones who are out to get you, could just give up and even decide to be friends with you.

16. Most people think the Habit three is the ___________ of all the habits

From Quiz "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens"-Habit 3

Answer: hardest

It's voted the most hardest habit to live. So don't get discouraged if you struggle with it, don't worry. You've got company.
