From Quiz "The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2"

Surviving Christmas Trivia Questions

1. Which community theatre represents Doo-Dah's play?

From Quiz
The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: Lincoln Wood

The sign is shown just before we watch Drew and Tom walk up the stairs to go see the play. This movie was supposed to be filmed in Arlington Heights but was later changed to parts of Chicago, because the weather was too cold.

2. What is the name of Missy's biological father?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: Skippy

Missy's father, Horace Vanglider, lets loose on her mother, Letitia, while at the Valco's home. He informs his wife that he's put up with her crap for 25 years, and he knows that it was Skippy who got her pregnant. Missy's mother is played by Stephanie Faracy- you might remember her as John Candy's wife in "The Great Outdoors". David Selby plays Horace. He is better known as the cunning Richard Channing on "Falcon Crest." I used to love that show.

3. What song did Tom have to sing, once Drew was finished decorating the Christmas tree?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: Oh Christmas Tree

Just as Drew is about to turn on the Christmas lights, he makes Tom sing "Oh Christmas Tree", much to Tom's dismay.

4. If I told you that my Doo-Dah was coming over for dinner, who would I be talking about?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: My grandfather

Bill Macy plays the part of Doo-Dah. Drew hires him to portray his grandfather because the Valco family was missing one. Doo-Dah's real name is Saul and he's a stage actor from the local theatre.

5. How did Drew prefer his hot chocolate?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: With mini marshmallows

This was another funny scene that I quite enjoyed. When Christine gives him his hot chocolate and he tells her his mom used to put marshmallows in it, she happily throws in a couple of large ones. When she hands him the mug once again, he informs her that his mom only put in the mini marshmallows. She takes the large marshmallows and hacks them up with a butcher knife.

6. How old was Drew when his father left home?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: 4

When Drew finally confesses to Alicia about his sad family life, he tells her that his dad walked out on him and his mom on Christmas Day, when he was only four years old.

7. During the opening credits, what joyful Christmas tune is being played?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

I just love this song. Everytime I hear it I just want to start decorating my house up for Christmas. Which is a bad thing since Staples now plays it when the school season starts back up in their commericals.

8. What was the name of the play that Doo-Dah starred in?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: A Christmas Carol

Doo-Dah played Scrooge in the play, "A Christmas Carol". I liked the scene where Tom and Drew show up at the play and after watching Doo-Dah perform, Drew comments, "He's not that bad," and Tom replies with, "He's not that good either".

9. What is the name of the company that Drew works for?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: Bar Code Media

Drew worked for Bar Code Media. This is seen quite a few times in the background during the scenes of Drew at work. The product we see him trying to market was for farm-fresh, fat-free, pre-spiked egg nog in a bottle.

10. With whom did Christine get stuck with when the family went shopping and everyone split up?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: Doo-Dah

Christine was ready to go off on her own when Drew told her she had to go with Doo-Dah. When she questions Drew as to why, he tells her, "Because he's your father?"

11. What expensive present did Missy receive as a pre-Christmas, Christmas gift?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: 2 first class tickets to Fiji

Drew buys Missy tickets to Fiji so that they can escape for the holidays and spend Christmas alone. Missy gets upset that Drew never wants to be around family, and she breaks up with him and returns home to her parents. As a makeup gift, Drew has his assistant send Missy a Cartier bracelet.

12. What does Christine accidentally put into Brian's sock drawer?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: A bra

When Drew finds out that things are not so good with Tom and Christine he goes to speak to her in Brian's room. He asks her if everything is okay and she tries to tell him all is well. This is when he points out, "Are you sure? Because you just put a bra in Brian's sock drawer." And I love her line, "Oh, well, that's your brother. He's 15, likes to experiment. We still love him."

13. Personally I would have taken him for free, but the Valco's would only take Drew after he offered them how much money?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: $250,000

Drew even had his lawyer draw up a contract that entitled him to sleep in his old bedroom, which just so happened to belong to Brian. The contract expired at 11:59 pm on Christmas Day.

14. What type of meat did Tom have to replace?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: Salami

Drew ate the last of Tom's salami, so when the family went out Christmas shopping together, he went into the deli and had to buy more. I thought his response to Lenny the butcher about having "A pain in the butt (cleaner version), about six feet tall in my house" was pretty funny.

15. How much money did it cost Drew for the cab ride?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: $72.50

The cab driver has to ask Drew a couple of times for his $72.50. Drew hands him money and then asks for the cab driver to wait for him. The cab driver ends up leaving after witnessing Drew get knocked out by Tom, with a shovel. This was because Tom thought that Drew was trying to burn his house down, when in actuality he was just trying to burn away his grievances.

16. Where did the Valco family shop for their Christmas tree?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas"

Answer: Poor Don's Treeland

Once Drew decides on the perfect tree, the sign "Poor Don's Treeland" comes into view.

17. What did Drew write down as his grievances before placing the paper into the fireplace?

From Quiz The Joys of "Surviving Christmas" 2

Answer: People I Love Leave Me

I felt so bad for him when he wrote this down. With all that he'd been through in his life, it was nice to see him happy with the Valco family, even if it did cost him a lot of money.
