7. Garner starred in a 1960s drama with Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn. What was the name of that movie?
From Quiz James Garner's Flicks
Answer:
The Great Escape
Garner played Hendley "the scrounger" in this great movie. "The Great Escape", released in 1963, is about British, American, and Australian officers in a German POW camp during WWII. It details their plans at escape, and the consequences because of it. McQueen, Bronson, and Coburn had also starred together in "The Magnificent Seven" (1960). An interesting observation, Coburn and Bronson were both killed in "The Magnificent Seven" and, amazingly, their characters were among the few who managed to escape in "The Great Escape". On the flip side, McQueen lived in "The Magnificent Seven" but the "Cooler King" ended up back in the pow camp in "The Great Escape". Both movies were directed by John Sturgess.
