Born in French Lick and drafted from Indiana State University, Bird began his Boston career in 1979. He played in all 82 games in the season and averaged 10.3 rebounds and 21.3 points per game. This earned him the the Rookie of the Year award. His season MVPs were all consecutive from 1983-1986. Larry was a 1998 hall inductee. He later went on to be a head coach in the NBA.
