Survivor: Cook Islands Trivia Questions

1. A total of twenty players participated in the 13th season of "Survivor". In the first episode, these twenty players were divided equally into four groups - Hiki, Puka, Aitu and Raro, based on what criterion?

From Quiz
Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Ethnicity

The four tribes were Hiki (African American), Puka (Asian American), Aitu (Latino) and Raro (Caucasian). The decision to divide the contestants into four groups of five based on their ethnicity created some controversy among viewers.

2. The first two combined immunity/reward challenges were won by the same tribe, whose tribe members included Yul, Jenny, Becky, Brad and Cao Boi. What was the tribe's name?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Puka Puka (Puka)

The Puka tribe consisted of five Asian Americans. They were Yul, Jenny, Becky, Brad and Cao Boi. In the first two challenges, the first three teams to finish in the challenges would be given part of the immunity idol, while the last team to finish would attend Tribal Council where one of the tribe members would be voted off the game.

3. Which survivor became the fifth player voted out of the game?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Stephannie Favor

Stephannie Favor, 35, from South Carolina was a nursing student. Cao Boi Bui was a 42 year old Virginia native and was a Prelate, Loyal Order Of Moose. As a 35 year old California resident, Cristina Coria worked as a police officer. 27 year old was a Performance artist/roller girl and lived in California.

4. For the first time, the ninth place finisher was the fourth member of the jury. Which survivor came in ninth place?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Nate Gonzalez

California resident Brad Virata was 29 and worked as a fashion director. Rebecca Borman was a 34 year old New York native and make-up artist. Jenny Guzon-Bae lived in Illinois and was a 36 year old real estate agent. Nate Gonzalez was a 26 year old California resident and worked in retail sales.

5. On Day 15, how many people were eliminated from the game?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Two

When Day 15 rolled around, the tribes were presented with nothing more than a Reward Challenge and the news that both would be going to Tribal Council that evening. The winners of the Reward Challenge (Aitutaki) would go first and have a meal following their vote. The losers would continue on to Tribal Council but Aitutaki would have the opportunity to save a Rarotonga member by kidnapping them during the event. They did so to save Nate from the vote and Cristina saw her last day on the island. Cao Boi was eliminated by Aitutaki. This would not be the only double elimination of the season. Another happened on Day 24.

6. Which player used flirting as a strategy and worked as a boxer?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Parvati Shallow

Candice Woodcock was 23 year old pre-med student from North Carolina. California resident Jonathan Penner was writer/producer and 44 years old. Parvati Shallow from California worked as a boxer/waitress and was age 23. 28 year old Adam Gentry was from California and worked in copier sales.

7. On Day 19, before a Reward Challenge, the castaways were given the choice to join the opposing tribe. What was this event called?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Mutiny

When the tribes headed to the Reward Challenge on Day 19, Jeff informed them that they would have the opportunity to switch onto the opposing tribe, mutinying and taking new buffs officially. When this happened, Candice and Jonathan, both members of Aitutaki, decided to rejoin their other original Rarotonga tribe members and reconfigure the game. After this, the Aitu tribe (now with only four members) won the challenge against Raro (with eight). They also won the proceeding Immunity Challenge sending Raro to Tribal Council. The following Tribal Council on Day 24 was also visited by Raro; it was another double elimination.

8. On Day 25, the tribes finally had their final merge. What was their new tribe name?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Aitutonga

After a surprising double elimination for Rarotonga, the castaways united on Day 25 rather than compete in a Reward Challenge. As such, no one went to Exile Island. When they came together, the tribes decided on the name Aitutonga, a combination of the former Aitutaki and Rarotonga tribe names. Although Aitu went into the merge with less tribe members, their standings improved because of the use of the Hidden Immunity Idol and because of past issues with tribal lines drawn from the earlier mutiny. Both tribes decided to live at Raro's beach.

9. Which contestant, who caught many fishes and even a bird, was regarded as the food provider for his tribe?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Ozzy

Ozzy climbed coconut trees with ease and collected many coconuts for his fellow tribemates. He was also a good diver - he caught many fishes. In one episode, he even caught a bird. The entire tribe cooked and ate the bird.

10. Which original tribe had the tribe mate that later found the "Hidden Immunity Idol"?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Puka

Yul Kwon was an original member of the Puka tribe and later won the game. Thanks in large part to the Immunity Idol.

11. What was the Hidden Immunity Idol in this season?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: A compass

All castaways sent to Exile Island had their hand at unearthing the Hidden Immunity Idol buried in the sands and every few days, when a new cycle on the island commenced, a new clue to that idol would be given to the next person sent along. This season, the idol was found in a box buried in the sand on Day 5. Yul, the second person sent to the island, ended up working out the riddle with only two clues. The idol was a compass found in a box with a note, and while it could be used until only four people remained in the game, it was not used during a Tribal Council all season (much like in "Exile Island"). Nonetheless its existence had a huge impact on voting throughout the game.

12. After the merge, there were only four former Aitu members left in the game, as opposed to Raro's five. Candice told a former Raro player that he was a rat for flipping alliances and betraying all the people in the game. Who was he?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Jonathan

In the tenth episode, the two tribes merged and they named their newly-formed tribe Aitutonga. Knowing that his tribe was at a 4-5 disadvantage, Yul decided to show his Hidden Immunity Idol to Jonathan. He also convinced Jonathan to vote off one of Raro's members. Previously, Jonathan betrayed his Aitu tribe by jumping to Raro. After the merge, Jonathan betrayed his Raro tribe again when he voted off one of their own.

13. Two players back stabbed their entire alliance by being apart of a mutiny. One was Candice, who was the other?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Jonathan & Jonathon

Jonathan was considered a snake by almost all of the other players.

14. Which castaway won the most individual immunities?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Ozzy

When the tribe merged on Day 25, they also started to compete in Individual Immunity Challenges, protecting only one person at a time. In a total of six Individual Immunity Challenges, Ozzy dominated in five (while Adam won only one). Surprisingly, there were only two Individual Reward Challenges (and an auction) in this season. Parvati won the first while Ozzy won the second (though Parvati and Yul accompanied the latter). There was no car challenge in this season.

15. Which contestant, who was known for his athletic and survivor skill, dominated the individual immunity challenges by winning five out of six of them?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Ozzy

Out of the six individual immunity challenges, Ozzy won five of them. The only challenge that he lost was the one that was won by Adam, where the players were being quizzed on the details of the event that took place in the last 30 days of the game.

16. How many members were on the jury in this season (for the first time)?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Nine

After voting Brad out on Day 21, the remaining castaways were shocked to discover that their jury selection process had already begun. Three Rarotonga members (pre-merge) became jury members which, in a sense, was odd because the final selection would mean an Aitutaki winner. In addition to this new nine-person twist, there would also be a final three and not a final two. This meant that there could have been a tie during the final vote. Despite there being more castaways this season, more members of the jury, and more people in the game in the final Tribal Council, it still ended after the typical thirty-nine days.

17. In the penultimate episode, Becky and Sundra received two votes each at Tribal Council. The tie forced the two castaways to participate in yet another challenge to decide who would join Yul and Ozzy in the final three. What was the challenge?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: A fire-making challenge

Becky and Sundra were given a flint and a machete each to start a fire that was high enough to burn through a rope. After an hour, both of them failed to start a fire and they were given a box of matches each. When Sundra ran out of matches, Becky seized the opportunity and won the challenge.

18. In total, how many contestants were from California?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: 13

The 13 California residents were Adam, Brad, Cecilia, Cristina, J.P., Jessica, Jonathan, Nate, Ozzy, Parvati, Sekou, Sundra and Yul.

19. Who became the Sole Survivor of the "Cook Islands" season?

From Quiz Survivor: Cook Islands

Answer: Yul

When the final three of Becky, Ozzy, and Yul headed to Tribal Council on Day 39, they were forced to answer question posed by their nine jury members in order to secure their votes for the million dollars. After the casting, Becky received none of their votes because the others felt she rode coattails behind the eventual winner, Yul, who received five votes for his honesty, smart gameplay, and dominance of game politics. Ozzy received the remaining four votes, one each from Parvati, Nate, Jenny, and Rebecca. Yul won with the votes from Sundra, Adam, Jonathan, Candice, and Brad.

20. Which tribe lost the first Immunity challenge?

From Quiz Sole Survivor 13 - "Cook Islands"

Answer: Hiki

In the beginning of the game, the tribes were split up by race. The Aitu tribe consisted of Billy, Cecilia, Cristina, J.P. and Ozzy. The members of The Hiki tribe were Nate, Rebecca, Sekou, Stephannie and Sundra. The Puka tribe included Becky, Brad, Cao Boi, Jenny, and Yul. The five members of the Raro tribe were Adam, Candice, Jessica, Jonathan and Parvati. After Sekou and Billy were voted off, the four tribes integrated into two new ones. Adam, Brad, Cristina, J.P., Jenny, Nate, Parvati, Rebecca and Stephannie made up the Raro tribe. The newly formed Aitu tribe consisted of Becky, Cao Boi, Candice, Cecilia, Jessica, Jonathan, Ozzy, Sundra and Yul. After six more players were eliminated, Candice and Jonathan joined Adam, Brad, Jenny, Nate, Parvati and Rebecca on the Raro tribe. The Aitu tribe included Becky, Ozzy, Sundra and Yul. When the two tribes merged into one, Aitutonga was formed. This final tribe was formed and involved the final nine players. The nine players were Adam, Becky, Candice, Jonathan, Nate, Ozzy, Parvati, Sundra and Yul.
