Developed and published by Big Fish Games, 'Huntsville' is the first in the 'Mystery Case Files' hidden object series. It was released in November 2005 and promptly proceeded to break casual games sales records, establishing its firm foothold on the market. The game centres on crimes being committed in a fictional town called Huntsville by a criminal gang known as 'S.T.A.I.N.', and is played over a total of 21 different locations.

Blackpool is a small seaside town, popular with holidaymakers, on the Lancashire coast, in the North West of England. The town is famous for Blackpool Tower, which was built in the late 1800s, and intended to rival the Eiffel Tower.

A little interesting fact that I found on the "Mystery Case Files" official website here. Since the launch of its first series, "Huntsville", more than 100 million people worldwide have played at least the sampled trial version of the "Mystery Case Files" series.

The offices of Hunt and Peck, Attorneys at Law, includes such hidden items as a teddy bear, magnifying glass, globe, pocket watch and scissors. The scene is set in a room at the law firm dominated by a huge antique desk and chair, the desk with its overspilling drawers being cluttered with masses of items to be found.

The character Charles first appeared in "Ravenhearst." In the story line of the "Ravenhearst" games, it is "Charles' inventions" that players must outwit to get through the various puzzles which lock the doors to each new area of the game.

The Dalmatian is featured prominently in the foreground, looking at the fire engine which is the focal point of the scene. Lining the walls there are several shelves filled with objects. A fireman can be seen sliding down a pole in the background to the left.

We first met Rose as the maid in "Ravenhearst" and for this sequel, the object of the game is to free the souls of Rose and her twin daughters. By finding Rose's coffin, and the double coffin of the twins, new areas of game play are unlocked.

The battery has to be found in order to power the flashlight to complete the search of all locations; entry will not be gained to these locations until it has been found. In 'Prime Suspects', the main storyline concerns the theft of the 'Queen's Hope Diamond'. It is the player's task to solve the hidden object clues and to complete puzzles which will eliminate many of the twenty characters from suspicion, and then to solve a final puzzle to discover which of the shortlisted suspects stole the diamond. Like all the games in the 'Mystery Case Files' series, once one game has been completed it can be played again with a different set of clues.

Once the Detective has gained access to the house, he must get into the kitchen. As well as a 'Hidden Object' area, the diagram for the solution to the garden gate puzzle lock is pinned to the wall by the back door.

In this jigsaw puzzle game, players were required to exchange puzzle pieces. The pictures of the puzzles featured one of the crime scenes and also the suspect.

Tone-deaf Tilly, aka dental assistant Matilda Fitzgerald, can be found in Mingo's Playhouse wearing her customary apparel of red dress and dangling earrings. A performance not to be missed.

First the Detective must find a piece of cheese in one of the hidden object areas. Then he must lure the mouse from its hole using the piece of cheese, then give the mouse to the cat so the cat will release the key. Everyone's a winner, except the poor mouse!

The prime suspect had stolen the Queen's Hope Diamond. "Prime Suspects" offered 29 different locations with 22 crime scenes.

The newly-qualified Emma Ravenhearst arrives in England to take up her post as a teacher. She has not been long in her new job before she is befriended and charmed by the sinister Charles Dalimar, with unfortunate consequences. 'Ravenhearst', like its predecessors, relies on hidden object games for its main part, but it also features complex 'door puzzles' which must be solved in order to advance to the next level.

The graveyard contains both a hidden object area and a lock puzzle which must be solved to gain a vital object. It also gives the first views of the seashore and cliff top cottage gameplay areas, with cryptic messages and hints for later on in the game.

In these mini tasks, players were given some suspects and their tasks were to find the prime suspect. Each mini task enabled players to eliminate an innocent suspect.

Each new level provides a missing page from Emma's diary, all of which must be found to complete the game. When the required hidden objects in each level have been discovered, a jigsaw-style puzzle must be completed to reveal the next diary page. Rose Sommerset is introduced as the nurse/companion employed by Charles to care for Emma when illness overtakes her. She is, as will be discovered, not all she seems...

By scoring 100 or more points on the Whack-A-Troll, the player wins the coin which is needed for the coinslot on the telescope. Once the coin is in the slot, the control knobs on the telescope are freed, and a close up view of the secret code written on the floating buoy can be clearly seen.

The Ravenhearst manor was located in Blackpool, England. In this game, players needed to collect the missing diary pages to get more hints and clues in order to solve their cases.

Answer: The basement of the schoolroom

In a rather involved puzzle, the Detective must open the puzzle lock and gain access to the basement of the schoolroom. Fuel drips from a large tank in the corner. The Detective must also find a funnel, a screwdriver, and an empty jar, in three different hidden object locations, and return to the basement to fill the jar. The screwdriver is used to pry open the panel in the side of the cable car, and the fuel is poured in via the funnel. The cable car then gives one access route to the beach, and thus to Victor's cliff top cottage.

This young lady was Emma. She was a teacher from Iowa. She moved to England to continue her teaching career. There, she met her future husband there, Charles. Charles loved her very much and built the Ravenhearst manor for her. However, strange incidents happened one after another in the manor. The last entry of the diary was written by the ghost of Emma, which asked players to solve the mysteries in the manor.

The aptly-named Lance Pierceman the sword swallower is one of fifteen suspects in 'Madame Fate', all of whom work at the carnival. In addition to these suspects and their locations there are over 40 items which 'morph' into something else, called 'mystery items' by the authors, which need to be discovered to unlock further locations such as 'Kitty Carnival', 'Tunnel of Love' and 'The Outhouse'. 'Madame Fate' is a stand-alone adventure in its own right, but also links in with the 'Ravenhearst' games in a clever way which the player will only discover at the very end of the game.

After finding the double coffin and freeing the twins, players discover Victor's name. After finding the missing keys for the typewriter in the various hidden object areas, players must type the word "Victor" to unlock the third door in the secret passage. Right at the end of the game, Victor escapes in a time machine, leaving fans with the hope of another installment of the "Ravenhearst" series...

In this game, Madame Fate urged the players to investigate the carnival workers who were planning to kill her. There were all together 15 levels in this game. "Madame Fate" also offered many anagram and word play puzzles.

Just when the player thinks they have almost completed the game, they must revisit nearly every area to collect the jeweled hearts and open the final door. Emma's locket is also required for this last puzzle, and it must be completed before the game can end.

After finding all the hidden objects and solving the logic puzzles, the crystal ball would reveal the secrets of the carnival workers.
