The grey wolf disappeared in Switzerland for most of the twentieth century. It migrated back naturally, coming back from Italy in the 1990s. Wolves are afraid of man and go out of their way to avoid them.

Answer: Alpine ibex

This wild goat, the Alpine ibex, disappeared before 1800 and was reintroduced around 1911. This mountain climber lives at very high elevations and are herbivorous. They usually have one baby a year. The other three choices are Florida lizards.

The brown bear, had populations that had been collapsing since the fifteenth century. This was mostly because of hunting. The bear migrated slowly back up from Italy and there are a few in Switzerland. The Swiss capital, Bern, is named after a bear.
