A list of the wonders of the world was first created based on structures of the ancient world. Most of these were built around the 2nd-1st BC and only included structures known to the Greek world. Of the seven, the only structure still standing is the Great Pyramid of Giza. Since then multiple different lists have been made which include more recent structures as well as those located in Asia and the Americas.

Hercules (or Heracles) is considered one of the greatest of heroes in Greek myth. He is best known for completing twelve difficult tasks which are known as the 12 Labours of Hercules. These included slaying the nine-headed serpentine water monster called Hydra, capturing the Cretan bull, and stealing three golden apples of the Hesperides.

For the longest time, it was considered that our solar system had nine planets since the discovery of Pluto in 1930. In AD 590, Pope Gregory I reduced the number to seven and formalized the list. The seven deadly sins are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth. They are countered by the seven heavenly virtues of chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.
