Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We start with the character voiced by Kevin Spacey in the 1998 Pixar movie, "A Bug's Life".

Answer: Hopper

Based loosely on Aesop's fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper", "A Bug's Life" also starred the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Princess Atta and Phyllis Diller as the Queen Ant. The film was a great success, grossing over $360 million worldwide, more than covering the production costs of $120 million.
2. Change a letter to get Tod's companion in the 1981 animated movie, "The Fox And The Hound".

Answer: Copper

This Disney classic had a fine voice cast as Mickey Rooney played Tod the fox, Kurt Russell was Copper and Big Mama the owl was voiced by the great Pearl Bailey.
In 2006, 25 years after the original, "The Fox And The Hound 2" was released as a direct to video production, featuring the voices of Reba McEntire, Patrick Swayze and Jeff Foxworthy.
3. Change a letter to give the surname of boxer Henry, rock star Alice and actor Bradley.

Answer: Cooper

The great Henry Cooper, who in 1963 put Cassius Clay on the canvas, became in 2000 the first ever boxer to be given a knighthood.
Alice Cooper is an incredible performer, whether on the stage or on what is almost his second home, the golf course, a game at which he is very talented.
Bradley Cooper is a talented actor, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Oscar nominated for "Silver Linings Playbook" (2012) and "A Star Is Born" (2018), but unfortunately winning none of them.
4. Change a letter to find what is commonly referred to as an "esky" in Australia.

Answer: Cooler

The portable ice chest has been with us since the 1950s and although Esky is a brand name in Australia, it is used to describe all such chests.
In New Zealand, the term, "chilly bin" is often used to describe the same thing.
5. Change a letter to find the word that follows pressure, slow or rice to give a kitchen appliance.

Answer: Cooker

The first variations of pressure cookers were shown to the world as far back as 1679, and in 1864, German, Georg Gutbrod was manufacturing them.
Slow cookers are much more recent, first being produced in the 1950s, while the rice cooker is the grand daddy of the trio, with a ceramic rice steamer in the British Museum dating back to 1250 BC.
6. Change a letter to give the surname of singers Joe and Jarvis as well as a breed of dog.

Answer: Cocker

Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and gravel voiced superstar Joe were both from Sheffield, UK and although not related, Joe did apparently babysit for baby Jarvis.
Cocker spaniels also make good child minders as they love a family environment, but are not as good as either Jarvis or Joe at singing.
7. Change a letter to find something that a crazy person may be off.

Answer: Rocker

The phrase "off your rocker" is believed to have nothing to do with the curved piece of wood on a rocking chair, but is thought to come from the contact wheel of a trolley car, called both a trolley and a rocker, losing contact with the overhead wire, therefore making the trolley car no use until the trolley or rocker is realigned.
8. Change a letter to get another name for the leafy vegetable, arugula.

Answer: Rocket

Rocket has a distinct bitter peppery flavour which makes it so tasty in salads.
In ancient Rome, it was believed to be an aphrodisiac, and so was mixed with lettuce in a salad, in an attempt to control its effects.
9. Change a letter to find a piece of equipment vital for playing tennis.

Answer: Racket

Tennis rackets were made originally from wood and have also been made from aluminium, fibreglass and steel, though in the modern era most are made of a graphite composite.
Although tennis rackets are strung with catgut, this is in fact made from nylon and other synthetic materials and while sheep or goat intestines may have once been used, cat intestines never have.
10. Change a letter to find a word that can mean blazer or jerkin.

Answer: Jacket

Many types of jacket originally had a specific use. Bolero jackets were originally worn by bullfighters, bomber jackets were made for American airmen, donkey jackets were made for 19th century navvies and the smoking jacket was designed for 19th century gentlemen to look dapper while partaking of a cigar.

Congratulations, you have gone from a grasshopper to a jacket and successfully dressed an insect.
