Question 1 of 10
1. RULES:

In this quiz type, you first have to find nine words that have a common bond in the form of another word that can go after each of them. Your answers will have to make sure they not only meet the definitions but also fit with the, initially unknown, common word, which you will have to give as answer number 10.

Example:

You may be given the definitions:
- Male farm animal
- Wool-giving animal
- Firearm
and be told that the common word is a 3-letter word.

The correct answers for these are, in order, BULL, SHEEP and GUN, because they can all go with DOG to make BULLDOG, SHEEPDOG and GUNDOG. RIFLE however, would not be correct on the third question, because a RIFLEDOG does not exist.

For this particular quiz, the common word has FOUR letters and always goes AFTER the nine initially defined words.

The term scot in the meaning of a tax originally came from Scandinavia. It refers to a municipal tax that was levied in the Middle Ages in England. The term today lives on in the idiom "to go scot free". - The connection between Scotland and the word scot is quite interesting considering the reputation Scottish people have for stinginess with their money.

The true etymology of Scotland however stems from Scoti, a Latin term for the Gaelic peoples.
6. An Italian river (or a Teletubbie)

Answer: Po

The river Po is longest river in Italy. It is in many places quite shallow and in the summer might even locally dry out completely. The plains surrounding it constitute a key agricultural and industrial area of Italy. Po is also the name of the red teletubby and, in German is a colloquial, non-objectionable word for the behind, similar to the English language "butt" in usage. - Poland has been a highly mobile country throughout history, often changing its borders at the whim of Russia and Germany.

In the 1790s, Poland was split completely between Prussia, Russia and Austria, only to be reconstituted in 1815. After World War II, a substantial part of eastern Poland was annexed by the Soviet Union but compensated for by taking land from Germany in the west.

Walt Disney has won a total of 26 Academy Awards (Oscars), however, not one of them has ever been "best picture" or "best director". 18 of his awards were for "best short subject", four were "best documentary" one was the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award for consistent high quality work and the final three were specially created, one-time awards. - There are now four theme parks worldwide bearing the name of Disneyland.

They are the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and the three international franchises in Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Walt Disney World (Florida), the largest Disney resort, is not called Disneyland nor does any part of it bear that name, its equivalent park based on fantasy movies and disney characters being called "Magic Kingdom".
10. Now write down the missing word that forms the common bond to all of the other nine. Remember, it goes AFTER each other word and it must match ALL OTHER nine solutions - if it does not, you may have gone wrong somewhere along the way.

Answer: land

By adding "land" you have turned each of the previous words into a new word and thus created the common bond. I hope you enjoyed this quiz; I'll make more of this kind if I see this type of brain twist being liked well.
