Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. North African mountains dismiss from service.

Answer: Rif

This is simply a double clue - RIF is both a Moroccan mountain chain as well as a meaning to dismiss, in particular from public service.

Extra message: Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end.
2. Oddly, sitar senses reeds under pressure.

Answer: Stressed

"Oddly" requires you to look at every other letter: SiTaR sEnSeS rEeDs gives STRESSED - another word for "under pressure".

Extra message: Don't get stressed about this. The closer you are to the start, the closer you're to the end as well.
3. Girl behind again becomes majestic.

Answer: Regal

The prefix "RE" means "again", followed by "GAL" (girl) to give REGAL.

Extra message: Would it change anything if you had to play this quiz again from the end?
4. Twist ruffian to disprove.

Answer: Rebut

A ruffian is a BRUTE, which gets anagrammed ("twist") to REBUT.

Extra message: Rebut is the opposite of prove, but what would be the opposite of quiz?
5. Monetary amount held by often nerdy students.

Answer: Tenner

"Held by" indicates a hidden word clue, in this case ofTEN NERdy = TENNER.

Extra message: If you turn a tenner around, it will look very different. The same applies to quizzes.
6. Mix signal strengtheners to get junk email.

Answer: Spam

Another anagram clue ("mix"): Signal strengtheners are AMPS and junk email is SPAM.

Extra message: Don't spam my inbox with requests for hints. You (will) find everything you need, right in a place you could find this quiz.
7. At first, metallic iridium never existed duly unearthed.

Answer: Mined

Indicated by "at first", this definition uses an initials clue for "unearthed": Metallic Iridium Never Existed Duly - MINED.

Extra message: Metallic iridium could be used to make some high quality mirrors.
8. Head covering in Caesar's thing summarizes.

Answer: Recaps

"Thing" in Latin (Caesar's) is RES, put a CAP in it and you have RECAPS.

Extra message: To recap, you are looking for something that's backwards in at least two ways.
9. Therefore hesitantly ask to depart.

Answer: Ergo

This one was slightly sneaky with the actual definition at the front. ERGO is composed of the hesitating interjection ER and the command to GO.

Extra message: Therefore you should look for a subtle connection not readily apparent at first glance.
10. Card in headless senior is tied.

Answer: Laced

A senior is OLD, which becomes LD due to the "headless". Insert an ACE to arrive at LACED.

Extra message: Arsenic and old lace are not in your future, but the answer to this puzzle is.
