Answer: Lawrence (Larry) Pfohl

Lex was born Lawrence Wendell Pfohl on June 2, 1958. He grew up in Orchard Park, New York where he attended high school and played football. He adopted the name Lex Luger when he began his wrestling career as a tribute to comic book villain Lex Luthor.
2. Who trained Lex to be a professional wrestler?

Answer: Hiro Matsuda

Hiro Matsuda was a former Junior Heavyweight Champion. Besides Lex Luger he also trained several other wrestlers including Hulk Hogan, Ron Simmons, Paul Orndorff and Scott Hall among others. All of the other answer choices were also legendary trainers and ex-wrestlers.

Answer: Montreal Alouettes

Football was a big part of Lex's life. He attended Penn State on a football scholarship and played under legendary coach Joe Paterno in his freshman year. He transferred to University of Miami the following year due to differences with his coaches at Penn State. Off-field activities led to his benching at Miami and he subsequently left the team and signed with the Alouettes.

The change in character was solidified when Yokozuna promised a title shot to anyone who could bodyslam him. Lex showed up as the last challenger and bodyslammed him to earn the shot!

Answer: Randy Savage

The woman known as "The Lovely Elizabeth" was one of wrestling's most beloved figures. She met Randy Poffo (Savage) while working for a promotion in Kentucky operated by Randy's father Angelo Poffo. She came into national prominence as Randy's valet in what was then the WWF.

They were "married" in the ring as part of a pay-per-view wrestling show but were in fact already married in reality. She and Randy divorced and she lived with Lex. Sadly she died in Lex's home of a drug overdose.

Lex was initially billed as an "associate" of the Horsemen but became an official member when Ole Anderson was "fired" from the group in an angle. He left the group less than a year later after turning on the Horsemen's manager J.J Dillon during Bunkhouse Stampede Battle Royal in Miami, Florida.

The piledriver has been one of the most controversial moves in professional wrestling because of the potential for serious head and neck injury if not executed properly. It basically involves a wrestler going behind an opponent, turning him upside down facing away, placing his head between his legs and sitting down hard on the mat! A wrestler using the piledriver as a finisher is expected to know how to set it up to make it look more dangerous to the fans while avoiding injury to the opponent. Several unsuccessful attempts have been made over the years to ban the move.
