Jack Kelly (1927-1992) shared the series with James Garner rotating from week to week in the leading role. He co-starred in a number of movies and from 1983-86 was mayor of Huntington Beach, California. Jack Webb (1920-1982) is best known for is role of Sgt. Joe Friday in the TV series "Dragnet". Jack Lord played Steve McGarrett in the TV series "Hawaii Five-O". Jack Lemmon (1925-2001) was predominately a movie actor who received eight Academy Award nominations, winning two of them in 1955 and 1973.

All were gamblers and played poker. They travelled the Old West and were many times on Mississippi riverboats simply looking for a card school. They were constantly getting themselves into life threatening situations involving money, women or both. Due to their ethical standards they quite often had to weigh up their financial situation against their moral obligations.

The dilemma resulted in leaning toward their moral code of ethics.

Garner appeared in many movies and also had the leading role of the private eye, Jim Rockford in the TV series "The Rockford Files". Graham Greene and Paul L. Smith both appeared in the movie as Joseph and The Archduke respectively. Jack Kelly did not appear in the movie as he had passed away in 1992.

The card is an ace of spades which gives him an unbeatable royal flush. Angel becomes enraged and draws his gun but he and his cronies are out-gunned by Maverick and Cooper.

In the confusion Cooper steals the prize money and leaves the paddle-steamer. However, the Commodore (James Coburn) and Cooper are in partnership and had arranged to meet to split the money if the Commodore or Angel (a third partner) did not win the tournament.
