Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which "Peanuts" strip did Snoopy debut in?

Answer: The third one

By the end of 1952 Snoopy was still an undeveloped character, most often providing an embarrassing foil for Charlie Brown. His hyperactive imagination and vocal thought balloons were still a long way off. He didn't even belong to Charlie Brown in these early strips even though it is later established that Charlie Brown bought Snoopy from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm.
2. Did Charlie Brown always wear his famous zig-zag striped shirt?

Answer: No

Charlie Brown's famous shirt first appeared on December 21, 1950, more than two months after the strip's beginning. Until then he simply wore a plain white shirt with his black shorts.
3. Who were the other two main human characters in these early strips?

Answer: Shermy and Patty

The whole cast of the early strips consisted of Charlie Brown, Patty, Shermy and Snoopy. All the other regulars were slowly introduced later and these two were actually made rather minor characters in the later strips.
4. Who was the second regular female character to be introduced in the strip?

Answer: Violet

Violet and Patty became fast friends who actually fought over Charlie Brown's affection on occasion. One of Violet's favorite pastimes was making gourmet mud pies which she bestowed upon an iron stomached Charlie Brown.
5. During their early baseball games, which position did Charlie Brown play?

Answer: Catcher

Charlie Brown was the catcher while Shermy did duty on the pitcher's mound. They didn't appear to have an organized team and Charlie Brown wasn't the manager either.
6. What sport, besides baseball, did Charlie Brown and Shermy often participate in?

Answer: Golf

Charlie Brown often lamented a high score. He said he could almost always shoot below 30...on the first hole!
7. Who was the first baby introduced into the strip as a regular character?

Answer: Schroeder

Charlie Brown was the one to give Schroeder his famous toy piano. When Charlie Brown tried to have him play a real piano he cried until he was put back in front of his beloved toy one. He was a virtuoso from the very first time the piano appeared in a strip.
8. Lucy is older than Charlie Brown.

Answer: False

Interestingly enough Lucy appears to be several years younger than Charlie Brown although the age discrepancy disappears in later strips. Charlie Brown would often baby-sit Lucy who, at times, showed a fair amount of affection for him.
9. Schroeder lives on James Street. What is his house number? Think of Beethoven.

Answer: 1770

The reason he is able to remember this is because it is the year Beethoven was born.
10. What game did Lucy always win against Charlie Brown?

Answer: Checkers

By December of 1952, Lucy had beaten Charlie Brown 4000 straight games. Of course Charlie Brown just chalked it up to her being extremely lucky.
