Ziggler sucessfully defended the title shot contract against Chris Jericho on the August 20, 2012 episode of World Wrestling Entertainment's "Monday Night Raw" in a "career vs contract" match. Ziggler also sucessfully defended the title shot contract against John Cena at the World Wrestling Entertainment's 2012 "TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs" event in a "ladder" match.

The Big Show interfered in the match causing Cena to win via a disqualification.
