Question 1 of 15
1. The children are squealing, and Mom and Dad are overcome with excitement. You've finally gotten here and now you've come out from under the train station to see the wonder of Cinderella's castle at the end of Main Street. But first, you want something to eat so you stop at the first restaurant you see. Today it is Tony's Town Square Restaurant, but what would you have seen in 1978? Hint

Question 2 of 15
2. After a great breakfast you can't help but to get caught up in all of the shops. On the left side of Main Street is a store with a dark twist to it. You're not sure what you are seeing but there is a leash walking without a dog, several masks, and card tricks galore. What is it? Hint

Question 3 of 15
3. Time to walk just a little bit further down Main Street. Oh no, the kids are begging for all of your change. Pennies, nickels, dimes, and even a few quarters for the big games. Where have we made it to? Hint

Question 4 of 15
4. Alright, out of change and ready to spend your tickets (yes, you used to get tickets to spend). We're going to go right and into Tomorrowland. "Wow, is this what the world will look like in the twenty-first century." Well, today we have the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, what would we have stopped to see in this attraction while the seats shook in 1978? Hint

Question 5 of 15
5. That was fun but let's check out that room across the street. I've heard that someday they will be putting Timekeeper in this spot but until then we can stand in this incredibly air conditioned room and watch a movie all around us. Hint

Question 6 of 15
6. Now we are ready to ride. Just around the corner is this great ride that takes you along for a journey through the air without leaving the ground. In the future a character named Buzz will be attracting kids young and old to shoot Z's. What do you call this ride from the past? Hint

Question 7 of 15
7. Hey, let's go to Fantasyland. "Daddy look at that water over there, can we go on that submarine"? Watch your step as you enter one of twelve submarines and find your seat looking out of your porthole along with 58 of your friends. What ride from a Disney movie will you find here? Hint

Question 8 of 15
8. We don't need to go far for our next adventure, just across the street. This ride is wild. Left then right then left again. Who is driving this car? Hint

Question 9 of 15
9. Before we head out of Fantasyland, let's get on this high in the air ride back to Tomorrowland and then ride it back here again. Hint

Question 10 of 15

Question 12 of 15
12. The day is starting to close down. While we are here in Adventureland, we'll see one of Walt's favorite attractions. Inside we will hear from Jose, Michael, Pierre, and Fritz along with the rest of the 225 other birds, kiki gods, and flowers. Hint

Question 13 of 15
13. Now we're back under this spectacular castle and we are tired. How about trying out these very strange boats in the castle's moat? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Town Square Cafe

You won't be able to eat breakfast, only lunch and dinner at Tony's, but on your way out it's a great place for pasta.
2. After a great breakfast you can't help but to get caught up in all of the shops. On the left side of Main Street is a store with a dark twist to it. You're not sure what you are seeing but there is a leash walking without a dog, several masks, and card tricks galore. What is it?

Answer: House of Magic

Many old timers will tell you how much this shop is missed. This shop had many of the tricks that at the time were considered modern, though today we wouldn't be very impressed. By the way, Merlin's Magic Shop has been replaced by Sir Mickey's.
3. Time to walk just a little bit further down Main Street. Oh no, the kids are begging for all of your change. Pennies, nickels, dimes, and even a few quarters for the big games. Where have we made it to?

Answer: Penny Arcade

As the name says, Penny Arcade actually had games for a penny. Most of the games were from a time long gone by. There was the Kiss-O-Meter, antique band organ, and a horse racing game that pitted you against a competitor. Both people had a wheel to spin to see which horse made it around the course the fastest.

The Caverna de los Piratas was an arcade near the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Answer: Mission to Mars

The initial idea was for Mission to the Moon. Who would have thought that by the time Walt Disney World opened the moon would have become old news? This was an early simulation ride built in cooperation with NASA.
5. That was fun but let's check out that room across the street. I've heard that someday they will be putting Timekeeper in this spot but until then we can stand in this incredibly air conditioned room and watch a movie all around us.

Answer: Circle-vision 360

On a hot day (are there any other) this was a great place to see this totally new technology. This movie took you on a tour of America through an encompassing film called "American Journeys".
6. Now we are ready to ride. Just around the corner is this great ride that takes you along for a journey through the air without leaving the ground. In the future a character named Buzz will be attracting kids young and old to shoot Z's. What do you call this ride from the past?

Answer: If You Had Wings

Today's Buzz ride takes the same path as the previous ride. Originally sponsored by Eastern Airlines, If You Had Wings was usually crowded and left you with yet another memorable tune.
7. Hey, let's go to Fantasyland. "Daddy look at that water over there, can we go on that submarine"? Watch your step as you enter one of twelve submarines and find your seat looking out of your porthole along with 58 of your friends. What ride from a Disney movie will you find here?

Answer: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

20,000 Leagues was a ride through 11.5 million gallons of deep blue ocean with animatronic fish, sea animals, scuba divers and monster squids. It was very corny but certainly outshined the current empty attraction.
8. We don't need to go far for our next adventure, just across the street. This ride is wild. Left then right then left again. Who is driving this car?

Answer: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Pooh now owns this attraction and I must admit it's a good ride, although very short. Mr. Toad took you on a journey through the English countryside on the road "to Nowhere in Particular" and finally to your undesirable end.
9. Before we head out of Fantasyland, let's get on this high in the air ride back to Tomorrowland and then ride it back here again.

Answer: Skyway

Today both of the stations have been closed. The Tomorrowland station is empty and the Fantasyland station has a character greeting in the queue.
10. In Liberty Square, the Rivers of America come calling. Let's get on board one of these shallow-draft keel boats. The ride will take us around Tom Sawyer's Island and Fort Sam Clemens.

Answer: Mike Fink Keel Boats

These boats from the American past have long since been retired. The ride was relaxing but hot (no cover). The boat names were Gully-whumper and Bertha Mae.
11. After lunch it's time to go to work. Right here on the Rivers of America in Frontierland is your chance to paddle along with a few others around Tom Sawyer's Island and Fort Clemens. Just be sure not to steer too close to the Liberty Square Riverboats.

Answer: Davy Crocket's Explorer Canoes

One of the setbacks was that on a few occassions people were known to have fallen overboard. Legend has it that the river is dangerous, polluted and is home to alligators. Just legends, though.
12. The day is starting to close down. While we are here in Adventureland, we'll see one of Walt's favorite attractions. Inside we will hear from Jose, Michael, Pierre, and Fritz along with the rest of the 225 other birds, kiki gods, and flowers.

Answer: Tropical Serenade

Also known as the Enchanted Tiki Birds. Today it's the Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management. Even though the hours are cut down, the show is still entertaining and worth taking some time out of your day.
13. Now we're back under this spectacular castle and we are tired. How about trying out these very strange boats in the castle's moat?

Answer: Plaza Swan Boats

Today while looking down at the rose garden on the right side of the castle grounds, you can still see the boat dock. Eventually the city of Orlando bought the boats for their use.
14. Back to Main Street for a smoke and haircut. Yes, a smoke and haircut in the Magic Kingdom.

Answer: Tobacconist and Harmony Barber Shop

It's hard to believe that at one time they sold tobacco inside the park although gum has never been allowed.
15. Everyone is just about passed out. Thankfully all we have to do is get to the Walt Disney World Monorail Station and go to our hotel room. So which track to we go to. As we are walking to the monorail which queue do we get in?

Answer: The left queue

The left line takes you to the inside rail which takes you to all of the hotels, which at the time was only the Contemporary and Polynesian.
By the way, all of the answers for all of the questions, wrong and right, were actually a part of the Magic Kingdom. Thanks for taking this trip to the glorious past with me.
