Her family has many changes as it moves on from the past to the future. It is a light and easy read in a journal/slice of life format with great illustrations.
Amy Hest is a well known author of children's books. She has many awards for her works that gently examine how families work.

The movie "The Wizard of Oz", does not follow the book and the munchkins appear in a variety of colours to take advantage of the new Technicolor process used in movies.
