Answer: Granny

David was going to Granny's place for a while because his mum needed a rest. Here's the line that tells you that! "Dreadful David went to stay with Granny for a while. His mum was glad to leave him there, for David was a trial."
2. What colour were the cats that David annoyed?

Answer: tabby, black, white

The text tells us that - "David pulled the tails of all the cats, tabby, black and white..."
3. What did David use to wet the kitten?

Answer: A hose

"He watered Granny's kitten, because it seemed so small..."

That's what the text says, but Craig Smith's picture shows David using a hose.
4. How did Mum take David visiting?

Answer: On her bike

The text never tells us this, but Craig Smith's pictures show David sitting in the child seat on the back of Mum's bike.
5. How much flour did David take into the bathroom?

Answer: a kilogram

"He went into the bathroom with a kilogram of flour, used up Grandad's shaving cream and overflowed the shower." That's what the text tells us about David's bathroom adventure.

Answer: radishes

"He pulled up all the radishes to see down underneath..." David also "trampled on the beets".

Answer: tomato sauce and glue

"All the walls he painted with tomato sauce and glue, oh, there was nothing horrible that David didn't do."
8. What did Granny do when David got in the compost bin?

Answer: Put clean clothes on him

"Granny put clean clothes on David." Granny did this a LOT but it wasn't until he squirted her with the hose that she really lost her patience.
9. Where did David put the stuff the "smelled like rotten egg"?

Answer: On his shirt and his head

"He squatted down and found some stuff that smelled like rotten egg. He rubbed some on his yellow shirt and put some on his head."

The picture shows how David got into the bin; he climbed on a bucket.
10. Why did David water the letters?

Answer: He thought the envelopes looked dry.

"He thought the envelopes looked dry, and watered all the letters..."

David watered a lot of things, including the kitten, Granny's spare-room bed, the lettuces, and Granny!
