Rex is called X-Ray, because X-Ray is Pig Latin for Rex. It has nothing to do with his eyesight. In fact, X-Ray mentioned he has poor eyesight.

Answer: Stanley is Yelnats spelled backwards.

Sarah Miller, wife of Elya Yelnats, was the first to notice this. Since then, every descendant has been given the name Stanley. The full name of the Stanley that is the main character of the story is Stanley Yelnats IV.

Approximately 110 years ago, when this flashback took place, blacks were looked down upon. Katherine was to be hung but she escaped and later became known as the outlaw Kissin' Kate Barlow.

Zero thought it was just a pair of old shoes. He got rid of them and, according to Stanley, hit him on the head. Stanley was accused of stealing the shoes which led to him being sent to Camp Green Lake.

Zero pronounced it "chat". The counselors made fun of him for this and being stupid. Eventually, Zero hit Mr. Pendanski with a shovel and ran away.

It supposedly started when Elya Yelnats forgot to carry Madam Zeroni up the mountain. Instead, Elya became a deck hand. He also didn't carry the pig up the mountain on Myra Menke's 15th birthday. However, he chose not to do this whereas he forgot to carry Madam Zeroni.

Answer: "Trout" Walker

Charles "Trout" Walker tried to find the money that Kissin' Kate Barlow buried but was unsuccessful. For generations, his family tried to find this treasure. The Warden turned the land into a camp for bad boys whom she used to find the treasure, even though the boys were told they were doing it to build character.

Answer: He had an option: jail or Camp Green Lake

Stanley came from a poor family. Since he never went to camp before, he chose to go to camp, even though it was different than normal summer camps.

Answer: mule

It was named after a mule owned by Sam, the onion man. The mule was about 50 years old and was with Sam until he died.

Answer: X-Ray

X-Ray was the first to arrive, almost a year before the story takes place. Because of this, he believed that if anybody should get a day off, it should be him. He told Stanley that if Stanley ever found something, it should be given to him. Stanley kept that promise when he found a tube with the initials KB on it.

Answer: Stanley drove the truck into a hole.

After getting the car to drive, Stanley made the mistake of driving the truck in a hole. However, in this case, he didn't blame his "no good rotten pig stealing great-grandfather". This could be seen as Stanley's sign of changing during his time at Camp Green Lake. Later, Zigzag told Stanley that it took the boys from C, D, and E tent to lift the truck out of the hole.

Answer: Mr. Sir

Some of these references that Mr. Sir made were "You're not in the Girl Scouts anymore" and "This isn't the Girl Scouts". Ironically, after the attorney general shut down the camp and the Warden sold the land, Camp Green Lake was turned into a Girl Scouts camp.

Answer: Tractor

Tractor was not one of the nicknames. Barf Bag was the nickname for Lewis, who stepped on a rattlesnake and was replaced by Stanley. Caveman was the nickname given to Stanley. Mom was the nickname given to Mr. Pendanski.
