1. What did Tsarmina want to use to scare the woodlanders?

Answer: traps

Tsarmina thought that if there were traps all over the woodlands, the woodlanders would be bottled up in hiding. That way, Kotir was safe from any attack and Tsarmina's troops would be free to search for the woodlanders.

2. How did the woodlanders increase the water flow into Kotir?

Answer: scuttled "Wuddship"

"Wuddship" was scuttled, blocking the flow of the river. The river only had one place to go: straight down the three tunnels and into Kotir. Later, "Wuddship" was refloated.

3. When Kotir flooded, which creatures were guarding the prison cells?

Answer: weasels

When Whegg went to investigate the source of water, he saw the two drowned weasel guards. Tsarmina was getting really scared and upset by now because of the water.

4. What big weapon did Timballisto assemble for use against Kotir?

Timballisto's strange name came from the fact that he built ballistas. The ballista was loaded with boulders, which were fired at Kotir. The boulders caused the fortress to crumble.

Abbess Germaine was from Loamhedge, a great abbey. She planned to get redstone from an old quarry nearby. The great abbey (Redwall) would have a belltower, Great Hall, kitchens, and many other things.

Martin was beating Tsarmina with his sword, though he was getting very bad wounds from Tsarmina. Tsarmina kept backing into the water around Kotir, and eventually went too deep and drowned.

Martin was seriously injured from his battle with Tsarmina. Bella started out on foot to get Abbess Germaine. Germaine was forewarned by Chibb the robin of Bella's approach. After a quick rest, Bella and Abbess Germaine headed back to Martin.

Answer: the hares

All of Kotir's troops who were still alive were released from Mossflower. The hares warned then that if they were still in sight by sunset, they would all be killed.

9. Who did Gonff end up marrying?

Answer: Columbine

Gonff and Columbine were married, and they took up residence in St. Ninian's Church, an old church near Redwall.

10. Which badger appeared at Salamandastron at the end of autumn?

Answer: Sunflash the Mace

Sunflash is the son of Bella and Barkstripe. He has a yellow stipe on his head instead of a white one. He is the new lord of Salamandastron. For more information on the adventures of Sunflash, read "Outcast of Redwall."
