Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many members of the National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society were there in the first book, "National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society"?

Answer: 9

There was the director (Agent Alexander Brand), the librarian (Agent Lisa Holiday/Ms.Holiday), the pilot for the School Bus (the lunch lady), and the six agents; Ruby "Pufferfish" Peet, Matilda "Wheezer" Choi, Heathcliff "Choppers" Hodges (the bad guy), Duncan "Glustick" Dewey, Julio "Flinch" Escala, and Jackson "Braceface" Jones (the newest member of the team).

At one point there were only eight because Jackson wasn't a member, seven because neither Jackson nor Brand were members, eight again because Heathcliff left, seven again because Heathcliff and Brand were gone, eight AGAIN because Heathcliff was there but Brand wasn't, nine because everyone was there, and the number went down one by one as Miss Information made the agents disappear one by one. *gasping* (Need. Air! *Gasp!*)
2. Where did Brand say Ms. Holiday/Miss Information was born?

Answer: Russia

He said this in the fifth book, "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S.". He said she was born in Novosibirsk of Siberia, Russia with the name Victoriya Deprankova. She married a guy named Lars Corsica. Soon after, she was arrested for crimes committed by Lars. A Russian Secret Service agent got her out of jail and she became a spy in America in return.
3. What does B.U.L.L.I.E.S. stand for?

Answer: Brotherhood of Unstoppable Liars, Lowlifes, and Intimidating Enemies of Society

Miss Information told Tessa Lipton that she had created an organization of kids called the Brotherhood of Unstoppable Liars, Lowlifes, and Intimidating Enemies of Society. When Tessa asked, "That's what you're calling it?" Miss Information told her to just call it B.U.L.L.I.E.S.

It's made up of Manson "Snot Rocket" Cane, Rash "Funk" Maver, Tammy "Loudmouth" Tots, Thor "Thor" Hardwick (Miss Information wanted to give him a code name, but when your parents name you "Thor", you can't do much better than that), The Antagonist/Lunch Lady, Tessa Lipton, and Miss Information.

This happened in "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S.".
4. Which of the following colors does Benjamin glow?

Answer: blue

Benjamin is always mentioned to glow blue, however, he does glow red on special occasions, such as when he has an internal problem. For example, he glowed red in the fifth book, "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S.", when Heathcliff tried to fix him. In that same part, it mentioned that Benjamin glowed red, which was a sign of a problem with the internal programming.
5. Who knocked out Heathcliff's teeth in "M is for Mama's Boy"?

Answer: Gluestick

Gluestick punched Heathcliff in the face. This knocked out both of Heathcliff's buck teeth. Heathcliff never got those two teeth back.
6. Heathcliff, Choppers, Buckey, Simon, Screwball, Brainstorm: which of these is NOT one of his names?

Answer: Buckey

Heathcliff (used in "National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society") is his real name, Heathcliff Hodges; Choppers (in"National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society" and "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S.") was his code name when he was a member of N.E.R.D.S.; Simon was his alias (nickname) when he betrayed the N.E.R.D.S.; Screwball was his alias when he was in the Arlington Hospital for the Criminally Insane, because everyone thought he was crazy and/or insane and/or a screwball); and he called himself Brainstorm when he had a giant head.
7. Which of the following is the name of Ruby's dog, who is mentioned in "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S."?

Answer: Truman

Ruby mentions this in her chart that she made so she wouldn't be late for school. She also has a mom named Sarah, a dad named Francis, and a baby brother named Noah, not to mention a kajillion other relatives.
8. Each N.E.R.D.S. book focused on a specific member of the team. Which order did it go in for the first five books?

Answer: Jackson, Duncan, Matilda, Flinch, Ruby

Book 1, "National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society", was about Jackson and how he joined the team. Book 2, "M is for Mama's Boy", was about Duncan and how he was saving his family (and everyone else) from Simon, Mama, and Albert and their technology mind-control gun. Book 3, "The Cheerleaders of Doom", was about Matilda going undercover as a cheerleader so she could find Gertrude "Gerdie" Baker - a.k.a. Mathlete. Book 4, "The Villain Virus", was about Flinch saving the world from the villain virus, and book 5, "Attack of the B.U.L.L.I.E.S.", was about Ruby stopping Miss Information from stopping the N.E.R.D.S. from ever being born.
9. Who made Matilda want to be a tomboy?

Answer: her parents

Matilda's parents are always fighting. She didn't want them to fight, so she took up weird boy interests to get her parents' attention so they would focus on her and stop fighting with each other. (But she still likes being a tomboy, parents or no parents.) It was revealed in "The Cheerleaders of Doom".
10. Who was the only person who was immune to the villain virus in "The Villain Virus"?

Answer: Flinch

Because Flinch eats so much sugar, he has more white blood cells than anyone else in the series. They help fight off illnesses and other things (such as the villain virus) so that even though the evil nanobytes were inside Flinch and were trying to infect him, his white blood cells fought back and he wasn't made evil.
