Each player has a specific area of the court in which they can play.

There are 3 reserve players for each team.

4. Which player, apart from the goal shooter, is able to score goals in netball?

Answer: Goal Attack

There are only two players who can score goals, the goal shooter and goal attack.

The only two other players allowed in the goal circle are the goal keeper and goal defence.
5. From what part of the court does a game of netball start?

Answer: The centre

A game of netball always starts in the centre. The centre player passes the ball, which must be caught or touched by a player who is in the centre third of the court.

After each goal scored, the game is restarted by a centre pass, which is taken alternately by the two centre players from each team.
6. Netball players are allowed to kick the ball.

Answer: False

Players are not allowed to deliberately kick the ball, and nor are they allowed to punch the ball with their fist.

Another rule is that players are not allowed to fall on the ball to gain possession.
7. What is the standard height of the goalpost in a game of netball?

Answer: 3.05 metres

The goalpost is 3.05 metres in height. A protruding circle with a net is positioned 150 mm from the top of the goalpost. The circle has to have an internal diameter of 380 mm.
8. In netball you are NOT allowed to run with or dribble the ball.

Answer: True

The rules of netball specify that a player is not allowed to either run or dribble with the ball.

A player can however bat or bounce the ball once, in order to gain control of the ball. Players cannot bat and bounce the ball, or do either more than once, in gaining control.
9. A game of netball technically lasts for one hour. What is the hour split up into?

Answer: 4 quarters of 15 minutes each

A game of netball is split in to four quarters, each lasting 15 minutes. There is a break of 3 minutes between each quarter and a 5 minute break at half time.

In the United Kingdom, school children who are aged bewteen 9 and 11 years of age, play a junior version of netball called High Five. There are 5 players on the court and the game is split in to 4 quarters, each lasting 6 minutes. The teams can consist of mixed sex players. To make it easier for young players, they are able to hold the ball for 4 seconds and the goal posts are 1 foot (30 centimetres) shorter.
10. How does a game of netball commence?

Answer: By the referee blowing a whistle

A game of netball starts when the referee blows a whistle. The centre player who has possession of the ball has three seconds to pass it to a player in the centre third.

The captains of each team toss a coin for the choice of goal end and first centre pass.
