Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Led the Israelites out of Egypt when Pharaoh let them go after the first Passover

Answer: Moses

Moses was the leader of the Israelites while they were in slavery in Egypt, and was tasked by God to confront Pharaoh. Moses continually told Pharaoh to let his people go, but Pharaoh refused. God then sent several plagues against Pharaoh and his people, the last one being the plague of death. God passed over the dwellings of the Israelites, and only struck down the first born of the Egyptians.

This "passing over" the Israelites is what the celebration of Passover is all about.
2. Sent the plague of death as the final plague against the Egyptians

Answer: God

During the life of Moses, the Israelites are enslaved by the Egyptians. God sent several plagues upon the Egyptians to force Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. After each plague, Pharaoh was even more against letting them go, so God finally sent the plague of death to kill all of the first born in Egypt. This last and worse plague finally caused Pharaoh to let God's people go free.
3. Placed blood on the door frames of their dwellings so that God would pass over them without harm

Answer: The Israelites

Since God was going to kill all the first born in Egypt, the Israelites were told to place blood on their door posts so that their first born would not be harmed. When God saw the blood on the door posts, he knew that there were only his people inside, and he did not kill the first born within. God obviously knew his people, but asked them to paint the blood on the door posts as an act of obedience to him.
4. Held what is known as "The Last Supper" with his disciples before he was crucified

Answer: Jesus

Jesus and his disciples had a final meal together before he was betrayed and crucified. During this "Last Supper," Jesus passed bread and wine to his disciples, and told them to take them it in remembrance of his sacrifice. This symbolic reference is still used today in many churches, known as Communion.
5. Celebrated Passover with his sisters Mary and Martha after Jesus raised him from the dead

Answer: Lazarus

Lazarus was a good friend of Jesus who, after battling a serious illness, died. John 11 tells the story of Lazarus, and that Jesus raised him from the dead after four days in the tomb. Passover followed Lazarus' resurrection, after Jesus and his disciples spent a period of time in the wilderness. Jesus had to spend some time away as the high priests were bothered by the miracles Jesus had performed, and started to plot Jesus' death.
6. Denied Jesus three times before the rooster crowed

Answer: Peter

In John 13, Jesus told Peter that he would deny that he knew Jesus. Peter told him that he would never deny Jesus, but then in John 18, it says that Jesus was right. Peter denied he knew Jesus in front of several people. In fact, as Jesus predicted, Peter denied Jesus three times.
7. Betrayed Jesus with a kiss

Answer: Judas

Matthew 26 says that Judas informed the soldiers that whomever he kissed would be who they were supposed to arrest. Judas then approached Jesus, and after embracing him in greeting, kissed him. Judas betrayed Jesus because Satan had entered him, as was foretold in scriptures.
8. Sentenced Jesus to death on a cross after the people chanted "Crucify him!"

Answer: Pilate

John 19 tells of Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, who questioned Jesus after he was brought before the high priests. Pilate did not think that anything was wrong with Jesus, and wanted to set him free, but the priests and citizens of Judea didn't like the fact that Jesus said he was God, and they convinced Pilate to sentence Jesus to die on the cross.
9. Released from prison instead of Jesus during the Passover, even though he was a thief

Answer: Barabbas

John 18 says that Pilate knew Jewish custom during the Passover was to release a prisoner, regardless of their crimes. Because Pilate didn't think Jesus was guilty of anything, he offered to release Jesus. The high priests and the people didn't want Jesus released, and told Pilate to release Barabbas instead, even though Barabbas was a very bad man.
10. Took Jesus' body and laid it in his tomb

Answer: Joseph

John 19 tells of Joseph of Arimathea taking Jesus' body after he was crucified, and placing him in the tomb. After he was placed in the tomb, there was a great stone rolled over the entrance to ensure that no one would steal Jesus' body.
