Answer: Doha

Doha has a population of just over 400,000 inhabitants making it the biggest city in Qatar. The city was under British rule until 1916, and many buildings in Qatar have a British look. Qatar as a whole became totally independent of Britain in 1971. Doha sits on the east coast of Qatar.

Answer: Qurayn Abu al Bawl

Standing at a mere 103m the Qurayn Abu al Bawl is basically a mound of sand. Qatar is almost totally flat, with its lowest point being that of sea level to the Persian Gulf.

Due to the arid and harsh conditions of Qatar, there are no rivers or lakes. The sandstorms are the most common aspect of the environment. The maximum rainfall in Qatar is on average just 110mm a year.

The Arabic race is approximately 40% of the population. Pakistani inhabitants are roughly 18% of the population with Indian, Iranian and other groups making up the rest. The March 1997 census held in Qatar showed the country had a population of around 600,000 inhabitants.

The riyal is a very strong currency based upon the vast levels of oil that is pumped by Qatar. 100 riyal is in US dollars $27.5 and £14 sterling. The coins are in denominations of 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 dirhams (100 dirhams = 1 riyal), whilst notes come in the form of QAR500, 100, 50, 10, 5 and 1.

Answer: white and burgundy

The flag of Qatar is made up of two parts. The first part on the left is around 25% the size of the flag and is white, it has nine jagged edges that are linked together to the larger burgundy section.

Answer: Oil

Qatar is rich in oil and 90% of its exporting to other nations is oil-based. On an average day, 800,000 barrels of oil can be produced.
This makes Qatar one of the richest countries in the world when compared to its population and geographical size.

Answer: English

Children in Qatar are taught English from as young as four years of age. The people of Qatar are proud of their history and the fact that Britain once governed the state makes for excellent political ties between the two nations.
10. How many hours ahead of London is Qatar based upon Greenwich Mean Time (not counting any time changes due to daylight saving)?

Answer: Three Hours

The time zone for all of Qatar is 3+ of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Qatar is located to the east of London, so its time zone is ahead of London's. If it's noon in London it is 3pm in Qatar.
