Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I am yellow all over except for two large orange feet I am a main character of "Sesame Street" I can roller skate, ice skate, sing and dance I sure you'll love me just give it a chance

Answer: Big Bird

Big Bird lives in a nest outside of Sesame Street with his teddy bear named Radar, gifted to him by a co-star previously on the show. His first appearance was in 1969, and is voiced by both Caroll Spinney and Matt Vogel. To perform Big Bird, the user uses his right hand to operate the head and neck whilst inside the costume.

The performer's left hand serves as Big Bird's left hand, and Big Bird's right hand hangs loosely and is stuffed.
2. C is for....COOKIES AWWWN NUM NUM NUM Chocolate chips the best, oh so yum! I am blue all over with googly eyes But I still eat my fruit and vegies- I am very wise

Answer: Cookie Monster

First appearing in 1966, Cookie Monster became scary to children, due to the fact that he was afraid of being eaten by a monster. However, as Cookie Monster grew up he lost his fear and soon became a lovable monster- who was addicted to cookies. Cookie Monster is currently voiced by David Rudman.
3. I'm cute and cuddly and I love to learn With Dorothy and Mr Noodle- we have no concern If I told you what I look like it would give it away But my dad's name is Louie and my mum's is Mae

Answer: Elmo

Elmo is three and a half years old (on television). Apparently he was once just an extra red puppet lying around, into whom nobody could put personality. Elmo's current puppeteer Kevin Clash put life into Elmo when he performed, which encouraged writers to make Elmo one of the main stars of Sesame Street. Even now Elmo takes up the full 15 minutes at the end of the show with Dorothy, a fish, who always has questions to ask, and comedy from Mr Noodle trying to demonstrate the answer, but needing several attempts to succeed.
4. I am friendly, but mysterious and I love to count I will count anything, no matter the amount I count all the bats that live in my castle I really love to do it, it is no hassle

Answer: Count von Count

The Count was created to show children the basic mathematics of counting, even though his obsession with counting makes the cast annoyed whenever they were trying to do something, but the Count would stop them so he could count the number of objects around him.

He was first performed in 1972, however he scared children with his evil laugh, and the fact that he was able to stun others by waving his hands. Since then, The Count has transformed into a friendly vampire who has lost his ability to stun, and his laugh has been reduced to a chuckle. Count von Count is voiced and acted by Jerry Nelson.
5. I am furry and green and I live in a trash can I sit inside all day- I will never get a tan With my best friend Slimy we are just fine With the trash that people throw away, well that's all mine

Answer: Oscar the Grouch

Oscar's personality was inspired by an "exceptionally rude waiter" in a restaurant in Manhattan named "Oscar's Tavern". Also voiced and acted by Caroll Spinney, Oscar is always inside his trash can, never moving, except when his friend Bruno picks his trash can up and carries him around.
6. I often keep my friend awake at night My best friend is my rubber duckie who is a delight I am orange all over but with a big red nose With wild black hair, which is all right I suppose

Answer: Ernie

Performed and voiced by Steve Whitmire (beginning in 1969), Ernie is known as a naive troublemaker towards Bert, who usually would like to do something on his own like read. However, Ernie would rather like to play a game, so he annoys Bert until he becomes annoyed and plays the game. When Bert finally begins to enjoy the game, Ernie is tired of playing so he stops, annoying Bert even more.
The roommates Ernie and Bert are the centerpiece of "Sesame Street", and the comedy duo.
7. To Big Bird I am a great friend The adults used to think I was pretend For when Big Bird tried to show them to me Something bad would happen causing me to flee

Answer: Mr Snuffleupagus

Mr Snuffleupagus is a mammoth lacking ears and tusks. Whenever Big Bird tried to introduce Mr Snuffleupagus, the adults would tease Big Bird, believing that no such animal existed, but there was proof such as an over sized teddy bear or malted fur. The act of Mr Snuffleupagus being "imaginary" was stopped for a few reasons. One was because the writers were running out of new ways to have Snuffy just barely miss meeting them.

Another factor was increased concerns that the adults' refusal to believe Big Bird's claims of his friend's existence would discourage children from sharing important things with their parents.
8. Abracadabra, I can vanish in thin air I can also turn things into pumpkins so BEWARE No, not really, I would never hurt a fly And when I'm really happy I float very high

Answer: Abby Cadabby

Abby, a three year old fairy-in-training, was introduced to the set to create another female main character (most of the existing ones being boys). Also, to introduce someone from a different culture, without having to make someone who was foreign. Abby Cadabby is portrayed by Leslie Carrara.
9. I consider myself a furry little monster I like to be a superhero, even though I am a youngster I am a blue puppet who likes the adventure I also try to help people, no matter how far I have to venture

Answer: Grover

Grover is well known for his multi talents, and his cuteness. He dreams of being a superhero, and likes to try and act as one, although he is sometimes a nuisance and does the opposite of helping! Grover has a raspy voice to suit his personality. He is portrayed by Eric Jacobson.
10. Tippey toe, tippey toe, I love ballet Twirling, swirling, turning every single day I am orange all over and I wear a pink dress I often dance into things, making quite a mess

Answer: Zoe

Zoe was introduced to attract young girls of her age (three) who dreamed of being princesses and performing ballet etc. She is fitted into a permanent pink tutu, and a tiara to match. Often she dances into things causing a mess. Zoe is acted and voiced by Fran Brill since 1993.
