Martha was making jam in the kitchen when the servants started acting, teasingly, like they were ladies. The maid curtsied to the cook, saying, "Lady Margery Anne."

2. In 'The Far Side of the Loch', what was the name of the boy who gave Martha her hedgehog?

Answer: Gerald Cameron

Gerald Cameron was the son of the the village weaver. He later married Nannie, Martha's house maid. He was very kind, even though he was homely, unlike his older brother, who was handsome, but snotty. His younger brother, Ian, was Martha's brother Duncan's school mate.

3. In 'The Far Side of the Loch', what was the name of the house across Loch Caraid that Martha's uncle and cousins moved into?

Answer: Fairlie

Fairlie was built by Edward McNab, Martha's ancestor, when he first came to Glen Caraid. The house was in a state of substantial disrepair when Martha's uncle moved into it. He was the first one to live in it for 30 or so years.
