2. Most of us are familiar with Dorothy's ruby red slippers from the movie, but what color were they in the book?

Answer: silver

MGM studio chief Louis B. Mayer decided to change the color to make them appealing in Technicolor.
3. There doesn't seem to be anything special about Dorothy's blue and white gingham dress in the movie, but why is it significant in the book?

Answer: White is the color of witches and blue is the color of the Munchkins.

This is pointed out by Boq, a Munchkin Dorothy meets on the beginning of her journey to Oz. In Oz, the land is divided into different areas, and each area is represented by its own color. Almost EVERYTHING in that area is the same color. So, Boq assumed Dorothy was a good witch because she was wearing the color of witches, and blue, the color of the Munchkins.

It's kind of hard to understand what he's saying, but Dorothy understands him.

The Tin Woodman saves the Queen of all the Field Mice from a great Wildcat. In thanks, the Queen has her subjects haul the Cowardly Lion off on a wooden truck.
7. What are Dorothy and the other travellers asked to wear before entering the Emerald City in the book?

Answer: The Witch had a fire to burn the Scarecrow.

In the book, Dorothy trips on a magically hidden iron bar, therefore losing her shoe. She is so angry that she threw a bucket of water on the Witch. Being the model of virtue and courtesy that she is, Dorothy cleans up the remaining mess of the Wicked Witch before she retrieves her shoe and goes on her way.
