Answer: Kirsten

Kirsten Larson and her family emigrate from Sweden to Minnesota in the 1850s. A friend she makes on the voyage, Marta, dies of cholera before making it to Minnesota, where many Swedish families settled after emigrating in that time period. In "Kirsten's Surprise", Kirsten celebrates St. Lucia's day, on which one of the family's daughters wears a white dress and a wreath of lit candles and brings buns to her family on the morning of December 13th. Kirsten's main six books about pioneer life were written by Janet Beeler Shaw.

3. I have an embarrassing nickname because I once acted irresponsibly. But I'm resourceful, as I help a boy escape after we were captured by enemies. My hero is Swan Circling, who gives me her name. Which "American Girl" am I?

Kaya learns after Swan Circling's death that the warrior has given Kaya her own name to use when Kaya becomes an adult, and that this gift is a sign of great esteem. Kaya's books, which take place in the 1760s, were written by Janet Beeler Shaw.

Valerie Tripp's books about Samantha are set in the early 1900s. Samantha Parkington lives with her grandmother because her parents died in a boating accident. Though she and Nellie are of different social classes and aren't supposed to closely associate, Samantha sees her as a real friend and gives Nellie her fancy doll.

She saves a man's life during a trip to an island in "Samantha Save the Day"; he hits his head and cannot get out of the storm without Samantha's help.
5. I live with my sisters and widowed father, who plays the violin. I learn to weave, and when my aunt comes to live with us, we don't want her to leave! Which "American Girl" am I?

In Josefina's culture, it isn't unusual for a man to marry his dead wife's sister. In "Changes for Josefina", Josefina helps the two understand their blossoming love, and Dolores stays to marry Papa. The main six Josefina books were written by Valerie Tripp.

Answer: Kit

Kit's real name is Margaret Mildred Kittredge, but she was nicknamed Kit after the song "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag". She lives in the 1930s during the Great Depression, when many lost their money and jobs. Without the money from renters, her family would have nothing.

Her aunt comes to live with them and helps Kit recycle old things into useful items and pinch every penny she can. Valerie Tripp wrote the first six of Kit's books.

The American Civil War of the 1860s ends during Addy's series, which was written by Connie Porter, and she is reunited with her family over time.

In "Addy Saves the Day", the funds from the puppet show are stolen, and she has to find the thief and get them back.

Most of her stories center around the changing tides as the colonists divide into Loyalists, who want to remain part of the British Empire, and Patriots, who want the colonies to become a separate country free from British rule. Valerie Tripp wrote the first books about Felicity, who frees a horse from her cruel master, saves her friend from being hurt by bounty hunters, and alerts the colonists to the theft of gunpowder.

Though Molly does good things, such as making a quilt with her classmates to send to an overseas hospital, she's also mischievous, as she gets back at her brother's nasty Halloween prank (in which he soaks her and her friends with a water hose while they wear their costumes) with a prank of her own involving his underwear.
