Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Zeus was the leader of the Greek gods and lived on Mount Olympus. What weapon did he use to punish evil-doers?

Answer: Thunderbolt

Zeus used thunderbolts that were created by Hephaestus who happened to be his son. Mount Olympus in Greece was the home of the 12 main Greek deities. Zeus came to power after he managed to overthrow his father Cronus. The thunderbolt was used as a punishment for people that were up to no good such as liars and people who broke their oath.

He was a sky god and natural happenings like rain, thunder and storms happened because of him. He was considered the father of gods and people.
2. Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea and he was only second in power to his brother Zeus. What weapon did he use to cause quakes and storms?

Answer: Trident

Poseidon was brother to Zeus and had helped his brother overthrow their father Cronus. After they won the war against their father, they drew lots to see who was going to replace him. Zeus won and so Poseidon had to settle for being the ruler of the sea.

He was married to Amphitrite; they had two children together, Triton and Rhode. He also created a horse in his attempts to gain the favours of the goddess Demeter.

Answer: Dog

Hades was brother to Zeus and Poseidon. He was the unluckiest of the three and he was given to rule the underworld after his brothers got the best bits! Nine months later Zeus had such a terrible headache that his son Hephaestus hit him hard with a hammer and as a result Athena was born out of his head.
