Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Of the following, who is alleged by believers to be highly sensitive to psychic experiences?

Answer: All of these are correct

While all of these are correct, it does not mean that people not fitting these characteristics are not sensitive. There are exceptions to everything. Research also shows that those who are sensitive to pain and fatigue can be sensitive to psychic experiences.
2. The "Ganzfeld" and "Autoganzfeld" experiments scientifically tested for what psychic phenomena?

Answer: Telepathy

The "Ganzfeld" and "Autoganzfeld" studies tested telepathy by putting a subject in an altered state of consciousness. A sender telepathically sent this subject details of a photograph. Upon waking, the subject was then asked to pick from four possible photographs which one he or she was "dreaming" of. The results were extremely promising indicating that something other than luck or chance was at work there.

3. The "Remote Vision" project conducted by the United States government tested for what?

Answer: Clairvoyance

"Remote Vision" started during the Cold War when the United States government was worried that Russia was training psychics to uncover classified documents.

4. One example of "Field Consciousness" is?

Answer: Group Prayer

"Field Consciousness" is based off of the Jungian concept of "Collective Consciousness" or "Synchronicity," the idea that everyone is connected consciously. The idea is that if a group of people's thoughts and attention are concentrated on the achievement of one goal, such as the healthy recovery of a sick friend, the outcome can change.

5. What term is given to an apparition of a person who is at the time experiencing some type of trauma, injury, or death?

Answer: Crisis Apparition

A crisis apparition is an agent said to manifest itself to its loved ones with the purpose of communicating to them that they are dying.

6. One explanation for poltergeist activity is?

Answer: Psychokenesis

Poltergeist activity meaning, "noisy or troublesome spirit" can be the work of a person, usually an adolescent, with an unknown ability to move objects with their minds. This person is said to harbor internal anger from some type of stress in the house. This is a way of expressing hostility without punishment.

7. What phenomenon occurs in a near-death experience but is NOT indicative of one?

Answer: Out of body experience

An out of body experience or OOBE can occur in individuals NOT experiencing a near death experience. An OOBE can occur in a drug induced state such as surgery or recreational drug use. Nitrous Oxide, LSD, and PCP are drugs known to cause an OOBE.
8. People who have had near-death experiences undergo certain physiological changes. What change is not characteristic of such a person?

Answer: Takes better care of themselves

People who have had near-death experiences (NDE) see their bodies as just temporary clothing. Because of this, they don't care about hygiene or looks. Research also shows that people who have had a NDE have no concept of time. Therefore, the idea of appointments and a time-line do not matter to them. They are often late to where they need to be.

9. The space-time continuum theory in quantum physics gives a possible explanation for which psychic phenomena?

Answer: Precognition

The Space-Time Continuum theory suggests that every time is an actually space in the universe. Therefore, it is theoretically possible to build a time machine and visit time as if it were a space. Given this, visiting a time in the future is possible. Those with precognitive skills simply visit a space in the future with their minds.

10. The proven concept of "Nonlocality" is the idea that if two identical particles are separated along a distance, whatever happens to one will happen to the other. What theory supports this concept and gives a possible explanation of psychokinesis?

Answer: Entanglement theory

When particles are separated, they still have a quantum connection between them (they are entangled). This can explain how an object is moving without seeing anything actually move it. In order for psychokinesis (PK) to occur the sequence of connectivity (what connects particles) must be known. People with the ability of PK know this connectivity.
