Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Starting a Photo Quiz is as easy as starting a regular one. All you do is choose the option from the Quiz Creation page. There are other options from this page as well. Which of these options do you not have with a Photo Quiz submission?

Answer: Team Quiz creation

This is the screen you would normally find while creating your quiz, photo or not. The first option is your title-- this can be whatever you want, as usual. The second option is the important one; you can choose to make a normal quiz template or a Photo Quiz template with the drop-down menu.

The third item of business is the number of questions; 10, 15, 20, and 25 are all options. The fourth and final option is between Individual or Team Quizzes. While Team Quizzes are possible with a normal template, Photo Quizzes are solely individual ventures.
2. What colour is the background of a Photo Quiz template?

Answer: Red

While a normal quiz will have a blue template, the Photo Quiz will use a deep red for its background. This will ensure that you've correctly made the quiz; you'll know that if the background is blue it will not have any of the photo management options necessary to build your quiz.
Never fear, though! Hold on to your incorrect templates and use them for other quizzes! :)
3. Where can the author locate the photo image management page to begin uploading their pictures?

Answer: At the top of the quiz template page

As easy as that! The Photo Quiz introduces this obvious, albeit dynamic, new element and it should be just as important to manage as the rest of your quiz. Clicking on the 'Upload/Manage Photos' button will bring you to a single management page while the 'View How Attributions Will Appear' link will demonstrate exactly how the important info you insert can be; it shows exactly what the player will see, in a table, in regards to your image credits and licenses.

This button will be accessible to the player at the bottom of your quiz page.
4. You head into the photo management page and this is what you see. Is it possible to upload photos using a website URL?

Answer: No

The only way to upload a photo is by clicking the 'Browse...' button and searching your computer for the proper photo. As such, you can not simply insert an URL to add an image-- this is all the better because if that webpage were to ever change or become defunct, it would drop the picture from the game.
A recommendation would be to keep your pictures in a new folder, perhaps on your desktop, so that you can find them easily. The name of the photo file on your computer is completely up to you-- it's nothing we take a look at.

Saving a photo to your computer will be a different process depending on the operating system you're running but in most cases, right clicking the image and saving the file is the way to go.

To save your image in the Photo Management window, simply hit the Save Image button. Keep in mind that this save is different from saving your quiz, so if you have a question written and ready to go, that should be saved from the quiz template proper.
5. Okay-- your image is in the template. You've decided to upload one with a great deal of resolution and are worried about how big it will appear. What should you do?

Answer: Let the system work its magic and resize the image for you

If your image is too large, it will automatically shrink to fit the quiz page. What's onscreen when a player is in your quiz will size to their resolution, so your image may actually seem smaller to them. This isn't a bad thing-- the player can click the image on their screen to zoom in.

This is where your resolution can be a good thing-- the image will expand to an appropriate size. In fact, if your image is too small, it will zoom to the size it was when you submitted it.
6. You have a better picture in mind. Is it possible to remove your photo and replace it with another?

Answer: Yes

You can do just that! Llamas are pretty cool, but sometimes you find a better picture of llamas and can't reasonably pass it up. To change the image, click on the 'Remove Photo' button on the bottom right corner of that particular question's photo field on the image management page.

This button only appears when a photo is currently assigned to that question. You'll be prompted to confirm the removal and then *POOF* it's gone.
7. There are two available orientations for your photo. One is 'Left Side'. What is the other?

Answer: Right Side

The orientation option is the first you'll find underneath the Browse button on your image management page. Making a visually appealing quiz can be difficult in some cases; luckily all you need to do is choose between putting the image to the left of the questions or to the right. In both cases, the image remains in line with the center of the entire piece-- questions and answers-- to be uniform throughout. If you accidentally choose the wrong orientation, you'll need to change it from the image management page and save that individual question again. You do not need to remove the photo and start over.

Configuring the orientation and all information about the image will require that you save that particular image after any changes.
8. From the image management page you will be required to note the license info for your particular image. For which option do you not require the inclusion of a URL in the 'Image Info' box?

Answer: My Photo

The image license info is perhaps the most important part behind the scenes because it's the crucial part of the photo we need to verify in the queues.

Selecting 'My Photo' implies that it's your own. Put your username in the Author Name box and give a brief description proving the image is yours (eg. 'Vacation Shots 2012' or 'Taken on my Nikon digital camera').

Selecting 'Public Domain' implies that the image is free of copyright. Only certain websites allow this-- the symbol for this license is the letter C within a circle and a cross through it (kind of like a non-smoking sign). For this, if an author is available, use that name. We also expect a URL in the Image Info box.

Selecting 'Creative Commons: Attribution' implies that the image is licensed by the photographer and can be used for any reason provided the original artist is credited for the work. For this type, you *must* note the author of the shot (or, at the very least, their user name from an image hosting site). You must also post a URL in the image info box for the editor to verify.

All of this information is posted along with the quiz. If you head to the bottom of the quiz page and click on the link that reads 'View Image Attribution for This Quiz', it's all laid out.

To copy the URL, simply highlight the address of the page in your browser and either use a keyboard shortcut (ie. CTRL-C or CMD-C) to copy it and then paste it (with CTRL-V or CMD-V).
9. Photo Quizzes are only available in which of the following modes?

Answer: Photo Quiz Mode

Although HTML Game Mode, Flash Game Mode, and Quiz Game Mode are all choices for a regular non-Photo Quiz submission, only Photo Quiz Mode is available on the template for image-based quizzes. Photo Quiz Mode most resembles HTML Mode because the entire quiz is presented on a single page. The player answers all of the questions before submitting the game all at once. HTML Mode is mandatory for all regular quizzes just as Photo Quiz Mode is mandatory for all Photo Quizzes.

Flash Game Mode and Quiz Game Mode, while interesting, are not enabled for Photo Quizzes due to issues with their flash interfaces. In addition, Photo Quizzes are played untimed and the latter mode would cause problems in this regard.
10. Photo Quizzes are held to the same writing standards as non-image-based quizzes submitted to the FunTrivia queues.

Answer: True

As always, you need to make sure that your quiz is submitted as per the guidelines for both the site and your particular category of interest. Photos do add an extra dimension to your quiz and make a more dynamic submission, but it's far from easy. In addition to making sure your quiz is in tip-top shape from a writing standpoint you'll also need to make sure your images are well-suited, the licenses are as clear as possible, and that the photos are appropriate, just as you would need to with any written submission.

Sometimes your pictures may be llamas. Sometimes they may not. It's not a requirement.
