Chloe, sometimes referred to as Cleo, was supposedly a slave of Clark and Sara Woodruff. After she had her ear cut off, she supposedly poisoned and killed Sara and her two daughters.

Oleanders, which are very popular in the South, were baked into the birthday cake. According to legend, Sara and two of her daughters died after eating the tainted cake.

While she was having an affair with Judge Woodruff, her ear was cut off because she was eavesdropping and caught the judge having a relationship with another slave. After she lost her ear, she wore a green turban to cover the area.
