Almaty is the largest city in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan. It was once the capital of the country but the capital was moved to Astana in 1997. The city is located at the point where the Large and Small Almatinka Rivers meet, which is near Kazakhstan's southern border with Kyrgyzstan. Almaty was once called Alma-Ata and Verny.

Etawah, India is home to a number of animal and environmental sanctuaries. The Etawah Lion Sanctuary was created to help protect the Asiatic lions from extinction. The Chambal Sanctuary is a large piece of land that Etawah shares with Agra and is home to nearly 300 species of birds, many of which are rare or endangered.

Etawah is known in Indian history for the Indian Rebellion of 1857, which was an uprising against the rule of the British East India Company. Ultimately, the rebellion lasted for over a year and saw hundreds of thousands of casualties.

Gyeongju was once the capital of the Silla Kingdom which ruled the Korean Peninsula from 57 BC to 935 AD. The city is home to a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Bulguska Temple and Yangdong Folk Village.

Gyeongju is very mountainous and hilly, even along its coastline on the Sea of Japan. The highest point in the city is Munbok Mountain which is located inland. The mountains are much lower in elevation along the coast.

Ha Long is most famous for being a fishing city and port along Ha Long Bay. Many residents live in houseboats. The most famous site in the city is probably Bai Tho Mountain, which has a completely vertical face on one side. The name Ha Long means descending dragon because of ancient legends that Vietnamese gods sent dragons to the bay to protect the people who lived there.

The city is home to many forts and palaces including Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. Many of these forts and palaces were built during the late 18th or early 19th centuries, even though they look much older in appearance.
