1. Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, is the largest city that lies on the shores of what large body of water?

Answer: Caspian Sea

Baku is also the largest city in the Caucasus Mountains. Its location on the Caspian Sea made it a prime hub for trade and helped Baku grow into a prosperous city. Baku is located below sea level and is the world's lowest lying capital city.
2. The UNESCO World Heritage Site called Shirvanshahs' Palace lies within the previously walled section of Baku and contains such places as a bath house, a mosque and a mausoleum. The palace is believed to have been built over the resting place of which Sufi saint who lived in the area in the 15th century?

Answer: Seyyid Yaxya Bakuvi

The Shirvanshahs' Palace was built under Ibrahim I, a Shirvanshah, a ruler of Azerbaijan in the 16th century. He built the palace in Baku after an earthquake destroyed the then-capital of Shemakha. The site where the palace was built is believed to originally have been sacred grounds and the resting place of at least one Sufi saint named Seyyid Yaxya Bakuvi, who was also a noted scientist and philosopher in his time. Despite this, the saint is not buried in the mausoleum, but rather his remains are believed to be in the mosque area of the palace.
