1. First I want you to name the main settlement of the Kurile Islands.

Answer: Yuzhno-Kurilsk

There is also a place called Kurilsk, on Iturup Island. But Yuzhno-Kurilsk on Kunashir Island should be the major settlement here. Both of these islands belong to the Southern Kuril Islands which are under Russian goverment but claimed by Japan.
2. Then I want you to give me the administration centre of Sakhalin Island.

Answer: Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

Sakhalin belongs to Russia, but the southern part once belonged to Japan. They ceded it in exchange for the Kuril Islands in 1875. Southern part again Japanese after the Russian-Japanese war 1905. Returned to USSR after World War II.
3. Now I want the administration centre of the Russian Siberian republic of Sakha.

Answer: Yakutsk

Sakha, or Yakutia, declared independence 1990, but is still part of the Russian Federation.
4. We stay in the Russian Federation. Now I want the administrative centre of Tatarstan.

Answer: Kazan

Tatarstan also declared independence 1990, but signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Federation 1994 and is still part of the Federation.

Answer: Grozny

The city is completely destroyed after the wars.

Part of this area was taken from Finland during World War II, part of it already existed as part of the USSR. Declared independence 1990. Union agreement with Russia 1992.
