3. The river that connects the big Shuswap Lake to the little lake is known by this name?

Answer: Little River

The Little River, which is just past the mouth of the Adams River, is so narrow and shallow that it is not navigable by boats with outboard motors during certain times of the year.
4. On a map, Shuswap lake takes the appearance of this letter.

Answer: H

Although some visitors and inhabitants might argue the lake is the shape of an "X," Shuswap Lake looks more like an H and is comprised of four relatively symmetrical arms: the Main Arm, Salmon Arm, Anstey Arm, and Seymour Arm. Configured by the mountain formations in the area, the lake was formed by glaciers that met at the Cinnemousun Narrows.

5. The Shuswap region boasts the world's larges salmon run, when the salmon reach this river.

Answer: The Adams River

The sockeye salmon begin their long voyage from the Pacific Ocean to the opening of the Fraser River in the Lower Mainland of B.C. One of the most trying feats for the fish is at Hells Gate, where "massive cataracts test the salmon's strength, before entering the Thompson River." The Fraser then converges with the South Thompson River, where the fish make their entrance into Shuswap Lake and, lastly, arrive at the Adams river from the Main Arm of the lake. The salmon traverse almost 500 kilometers over several weeks. By the end of the journey, the salmon turn a brilliant red and the females develop beautiful arching features. The Adams river salmon run is known as the largest sockeye salmon in Western Canada, although the Shuswap community often claims it is the largest in the world. The amazing struggle can be best seen beside the Adams at Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park, named after a famous Canadian writer and conservationist.

9. What is the only island in the expansive Shuswap lake?

Answer: Copper Island

Copper Island, located just a kilometer beyond one of the most popular camping sites in the area and only accessible by boat, is the only naturally formed island in the lake. The First Nations people believed a great bear named Ta Lana inhabited a cave below the island. It is unlikely that any real bears could live on Copper island, which has a hiking trail that arrives at the peak of its small, mountain-like form.
