Ecuador is named after one of its geographical characteristics: namely the fact that it sits right at the equator. As well as bordering the Pacific Ocean on the west, it borders Peru on the east and south, where several rivers have also formed.

Venezuela's shape has been described as that of an inverted triangle. At over 900,000 square kms, it is roughly twice the size of California. Venezuela is home to the Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world. The 'Sun of May' is a national symbol shared by both Uruguay and Argentina, representing the Incan god of the sun, Inti. The nine stripes on Uruguay's flag represent the nine geographical departments. Uruguay is largely made up of grassy plains, and is quite mild in climate (only reaching about 23 degrees Celcius, or 74 Fahrenheit, at the peak of summer).
