The literal translation of the name Bucephalus is 'ox head'. Antiquity states that he was a rather large black horse with a massive head. Records furher state that the horse died after the battle of Hydaspes in 326 BC.
2. What was the name of Napoleon's favorite mount?

Answer: Marengo

Napoleon's favorite mount was an Arabian horse named Marengo. He named this horse after one of his earliest victories over the Austrians, the Battle of Marengo (1800).
3. Which horse was the favorite of General 'Stonewall' Jackson?

Answer: Little Sorrel

Little Sorrel was the favorite mount ridden by Stonewall Jackson. He was riding this horse when he was wounded at Chancellorsville. Unlike Jackson, the horse survived the war and lived until 1886. He can be seen at the Virginia Military Institute.
