1. When did Generalissimo Francisco Franco die?

Answer: 1970s

His full name was Francisco Paulino Hermenegildo Teódulo Franco y Bahamonde Salgado Pardo. He was a head of state in Spain from 1939 to 1975. He died on 20th November 1975 and is buried at Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos.
2. When did assassination of General Michael Collins, President of the Irish Provisional Government, occur?

Answer: 1920s

Michael Collins was born at Sam's Cross in West Cork in 1890. He became President of the Irish Provisional Government in 1921 and only one year later, on 22nd October 1922, was killed in an ambush by hardline Irish Nationalists who resented his agreement with Britain.
3. In what decade did Charles Lindbergh fly non-stop and solo across the Atlantic?

Answer: 1920s

Charles Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on 4th February 1902. He was a son of Swedish immigrants. He is famous for flying from New York to Paris on 20-21st May 1927 on his airplane "The Spirit of St. Louis". He died of cancer on 26th August 1974. On his grave is the inscription: "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea ..."
4. In which decade was Indira Gandhi elected Prime Minister of India?

Answer: 1960s

Indira Gandhi was born on 19th November 1917, the only child of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. She served twice as Prime Minister of India, from 19th January 1966 to 24th March 1977, and then from 14th January 1980 until her assassination by her own Sikh bodyguards on 31st October 1984.
5. In which decade did the "Watergate" scandal take place?

Answer: 1970s

The Watergate scandal was brought to the public attention by two reporters from the "Washington Post", Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. It ultimately led to resignation of President Richard Nixon on 9th August 1974. He was succeeded by Gerald Ford.
6. When was Pope John XXIII was succeeded by Paul VI?

Answer: 1960s

John XXIII, Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, was Pope from 28th October 1958 to 3rd June 1963 when he died of cancer. He was born on 25th November 1881 in Sotto il Monte in Italy and became a priest in 1905. Paul VI served as a Pope from 1963 till 1978. He acquired the nickname "The Pilgrim Pope", because he visited all five continents.
7. When was the Berlin Wall built?

Answer: 1960s

It was a 155 km long wall which isolated West Berlin from East Berlin. The construction of the wall began on 13th August 1961. In the beginning it consisted just of barbed wire. The Berlin Wall was forced open by East German protestors on 9th November 1989.
8. When did the "Black Tuesday", the Wall Street Crash, happen?

Answer: 1920s

It happened on 24th October 1929, starting the Great Depression. This crash followed the economic boom, which had led many American citizens to invest their money in the stock market.
9. North America - When did the first season of the National Basketball Association start?

Answer: 1940s

The NBA was first founded in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America. It changed its name to National Basketball Association in 1949 after adding several teams from the National Basketball League.
10. When did Elizabeth II become Queen of Great Britain?

Answer: 1950s

Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21st April 1926. Her official title is: "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith".
