Juan Ponce de Leon (1474-1521) was an explorer and conquistador. He was appointed by the Spanish Crown as the first Governor of Puerto Rico.
It was while in Puerto Rico that he lead the first European expedition to Florida. Initially he thought Florida was an island and he named it La Florida in recognition of the landscape and vegetation and as it was around Easter time the Spaniards have a festival called Pascua Florida(Festival of Flowers).
The three countries (Cuba, Puerto Rico and Bahamas) were discovered by Christopher Columbus.

RMS Carpathia immediately responded to the distress signals from Titanic but only arrived 1½ hours after she had sunk. RMS Carpathia (1903-1918) herself was sunk on July 17, 1918 during WWI by a torpedo from a German U-boat off the Irish coast.
RMS Lusitania was a non-military ship but was sunk on May 7,1915 by a German U-boat also off the coast of Ireland.
RMS Aquitania(1914-1950) survived military service in both world wars.
RMS Campania (1893-1918) was sunk in a collision with HMS Glorious on November 5, 1918.

William Bligh (1754-1817) after returning to England fought under Admiral Nelson at the Battle of Copenhagen. Fifteen years after the "Bounty" mutiny
he was appointed Governor of NSW (Australia) to clear up the corruption of the rum trade in the NSW Corps which resulted in the "Rum Rebellion".
Fletcher Christian (1764-1793) was the masters mate on board the HMS Bounty and seized command after the mutiny. He died on Pitcairn Island at the age of 28.
Edward Edwards was command of the HMS Pandora that was sent to search for the HMS Bounty and the mutineers.
Peter Heywood was one of the mutineers taken back to London for court martial. He was pardoned and eventually rose to the rank of captain.
