Pepsi was created by Caleb Bradham at his home in New Bern, North Carolina. He made it as a carbonated soft drink.

The drink's name was changed to Pepsi-Cola in 1903. This was due to the fact that it contained the digestive enzyme pepsin and kola nuts. Its creator Caleb Bradham wished to create a delicious fountain drink to aid digestion and boost energy.
