Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When writing to a celebrity, you should try to provide a ___________________ with your letter.

Answer: Self-addressed envelope

Including a self-addressed envelope means that your chosen celebrity doesn't need to go into the hassle of finding a suitable envelope and writing your address. Unless it is a gift, celebrities never require a teddy bear, a map or a roll of stamps.
2. What is a PP, in autograph collecting terms?

Answer: Pre Print

A pre print is a copy of an autograph. It is when someone has an original and they scan it onto a computer, then print out the copy. People often buy these, because it is the cheap option of owning something that looks like an original.
3. Sometimes your letter to a celebrity may be sent back as an RTS, what does this stand for?

Answer: Return To Sender

RTSs are received if a celebrity no longer can be contacted through that address, or if they are away for long periods of time, etc. If any are to come through your door, just see it as a challenge to get that celebrity's autograph.
4. Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and many other A-list celebrities are clients of which talent agency?

Answer: CAA (Creative Artists Agency)

CAA is the biggest talent agency in the world and caters for the biggest stars in Hollywood. If you plan to write a letter to a celebrity at CAA, do not always expect a reply as they are a large company and do not usually deal with every piece of fan mail received.
5. All celebrities personalize the autographs they send.

Answer: False

Some celebrities such as Ewan McGregor, Vin Diesel and David Beckham only sign their name, never personalize. Most celebrities will personalize an autograph if you ever have the chance to meet them.
6. What one thing do Sylvester Stallone and Vin Diesel have in common?

Answer: They require a picture in order to sign

If you send a letter to either one of these actors, then always provide a picture, DVD cover, poster, etc for them to sign. Otherwise, they will not reply and you feel upset inside. So remember that if you send something for them to sign then you'll probably receive their autograph in a few weeks.
7. To get free preprinted autographs, which company can you use?

Answer: Studio Fanmail

Studio Fanmail (or SFM) give out free autographs if you contact them, SFM doesn't send out real autographs but autopen autographs. This means that the celebrity signs one picture and they get a machine to copy the autograph onto thousands of pictures ready to send out.
8. What is an IRC?

Answer: International Reply Coupon

An IRC (International Reply Coupon) can be bought from the post office and is used by the celebrity to buy stamps in their own country. For instance, English stamps are not valid in the US therefore the celebrity would have to buy American stamps to send it back. Most celebrities require 3 or 4 IRCs and that would give you better odds for receiving an autograph.
9. If you do not receive an autograph, or you receive a copy of an autograph, what can you do to get a real autograph?

Answer: Write to the celebrity via venue

If you write to a celebrity via venue, this means contacting them at a movie or film set. You are far more likely to receive an autograph however they are very busy and they would require a SAE, a picture and IRCs otherwise they may not reply. Some celebrities provide their own picture and send their own envelope and postage such as Kevin Costner and John Travolta.
10. Finally, where should you keep your collectable autographs?

Answer: In a photo album

Keeping your autographs in a photo album means that they will not be affected by the sun, they won't get damaged and you can show them to your friends and family with pride. I hope you enjoyed my quiz. If you would like to know which autographs I have got please message me, and if you would like an address of a celebrity please contact me and I'll try and find it.
