Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which character (out of these four) is the last to die?

Answer: Enjolras

Fantine is the first to die, and the only character to die in the first act. Eponine, Gavroche and Enjolras all die on the barricade.
2. Which animal does Thenardier refer to in his second act solo?

Answer: Dog

A tiger is referred to in Fantine's solo, 'I Dreamed A Dream'. Thenardier's song is called 'Dog Eats Dog', which is sung as he steals from the dead after the barricade scene.
3. What did Jean Valjean steal that landed him in jail?

Answer: Bread

In the prologue, it is revealed that he stole some bread to feed his starving family.
4. Which of these four is not a student?

Answer: Fauchelevant

Fauchelevant is the man who gets pinned under the cart in the first act. He is saved by Jean Valjean.
5. Many of the lead characters sing solo lines in 'One Day More'. Which of these is the correct order in which they sing their first lines?

Answer: Valjean, Eponine, Enjolras, Javert

Although all of these characters sing at various times during 'One Day More', the first lines they sing are in this order.
6. Which of these lines is not sung in 'Master of the House'?

Answer: 'Here's a tasty thing'

'I used to dream that I would meet a prince' is sung by Mme Thenardier, not Thenardier himself, although it is still a part of 'Master of the House'.
7. Who is related to Eponine?

Answer: Gavroche

Although Cosette lived with Eponine and the Thenardiers, she is not related to them.
8. Complete this line. 'Children of the barricades who didn't last...'

Answer: The night

This is from the song 'Turning', which is the only song that is ONLY sung by the women's chorus during the show. Apparently, this song is sometimes cut from the stage show.
9. What does Javert not reveal to Valjean during their confrontation after Fantine's death?

Answer: His mother was a whore

This is sung in Javert and Valjean's confrontation.

'...I was born inside a jail,
I was born with scum like you,
I am from the gutter too.'
10. 'Turning' comes immediately after which song?

Answer: Javert's Suicide

It is sung after Javert dies, and immediately before 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables'.
