Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the lead character of 'Once On This Island'?

Answer: Ti Moune

In the Bonhill Community Dance and Drama Group (BCDADG) March 2006 production, this part was brought to life by Rachael Pender and Sarah Earnshaw who shared the part between them. This part is the lead. It is Ti Moune's story of life, love and death.
2. What is the opening song?

Answer: We Dance

This is possibly one of the best songs of the show. It combines singing, dancing and acting. And sets the scene for the rest of the show: the storm that leads Ti Moune to Mama Euralie and Tonton Julain; the second storm that brings Daniel to her; the third that leads her to Daniel on the other side of the island; and the fourth that ends her.
3. How many Gods watch over the island?

Answer: 4

These parts in the BCDADG production were played by myself, Kelly Keirnan, Ross McPherson and Rebecca Macindoe. These parts are maybe the hardest in the show. There are a very broad range of vocals in the songs the Gods sing and it is difficult to hit some of the notes if they are not in your normal vocal range.
4. What is the lead male's name?

Answer: Daniel

This role in the BCDADG production went to Jamie MacIntyre. Daniel is a complex part, he must battle his feelings of true love for Ti Moune with what his head (and his Father) is telling him to do: to do his duty and marry Andrea, the woman he is promised to.
5. Who is The God of Water?

Answer: Agwe

Ross McPherson played this part in the BCDADG version, and, needless to say, blew it out of the water. Agwe is one of the villainous Gods, he is the one that plans to make Daniel's car skid so that he is hurt and Ti Moune finds and saves him.
6. Who is Beautiful Goddess of Love?

Answer: Erzulie

Rebecca Macindow did this role for BCDADG, with an amazing motherly feel. Erzulie is possibly the nicest of the Gods. She wants Ti Moune to succceed in her quest for true love and it is Erzulie who brings them together eventually.
7. Who is Mother of the Earth?

Answer: Asaka

Kelly Keirnan portrayed this character for BCDADG and her tap-dancing was spectacular. Asaka is the other nice God, she leads Ti Moune through the wreckage of the storm to Daniel on the other side of the island.
8. Who is Sly Demon of Death?

Answer: Papa Ge

This was my part in the BGDADG production. My first singing role and I loved it! It was strange to be in a male part, but I could sing lower than the other guys that auditioned. Papa Ge is the bad guy among the Gods. It's because of him that Ti Moune gives up her soul and dies in the end; she has promised her life to Papa Ge in exchange for Daniel's.

When Daniel goes off with Andrea, Ti Moune owes Papa Ge a debt he wants back.
9. What is the closing song in the show?

Answer: We Tell The Story

This is another great song. It ends the story well. It shows that no matter where you are, what you do, people remember you for the good things you've done.
10. How many storytellers are in the tale?

Answer: 4

These parts in the BCDADG version were played by Erin Crombie, Stephanie Calqhoun, Hannah Gall and Jennifer Herd. These four help to lead the audience along.
